The newest member of the Boiarsky Family
Family Member Names: Dave, Jeanne, Hailey Boiarsky.
Pet's Name: Tiki Boiarsky.
Type of Animal/Breed? Tiki is a purebred Yorkie.
Is Tiki a Male or Female? Male.
Tiki's Age? Three months old.
Where and why did you get Tiki? Our previous dog, Vegas, passed away during COVID-19. It was a really hard thing for us to get over. We just weren't ready for another dog until now. We found a breeder in Surprise, AZ, and came up on the waitlist. We got him in early July, and we just love him.
Is there a story behind his name? Tiki got his name before we even knew we were going to get him. We went to Maui in June to celebrate our daughter Hailey's high school graduation and Jeanne's retirement from teaching. We were in the pool at the resort, and there were tiki torches all around the property. We knew our next puppy would be a Yorkie (Hailey's dream dog), and she said, "Why don't we name our dog Tiki?" We all decided it was perfect. Then we just hoped we'd get a dog soon to go with the name.
Is there anything special or unusual about Tiki? Tiki is a funny little guy. He goes into "crazy mode" and runs fast and crazy all over the house/backyard. Then he just crashes, and he's out for like an hour. He plays hard and naps hard. He loves to play ball with us. He grabs his little ball and then nudges it to one of us so that we'll bounce it back to him.
What do you like best about having Tiki? Tiki fits right into our family. Nothing seems to scare him. He can hear the doorbell, the vacuum, thunder, etc ... and he doesn't flinch. He is a bit of a drama king, though. When he needed ear drops or when we tried to trim his fur a little bit, he just howled. We love his little ears. They swivel depending on his mood. When he runs, his ears fly back. When he's happy, they just perk up tall. When he sees Hailey, the ears go crazy!
Any funny stories you want to share? Tiki must be part gopher. He can find any tight space and squeeze through to get where he wants to go. At Jeanne's parents' house, they put up a barricade so that he wouldn't go onto their area rug. He found one little crack in the barricade and squeezed himself through onto the rug. He is determined!
How spoiled is Tiki? Very spoiled. He even has a chew toy that says "spoiled." He is the king of the house, and he knows it.
How has Tiki enriched your home or family? Tiki has brought so much joy to our lives. He trots over to us, and that little body just wiggles, and the tail wags, and we instantly smile. We call it his "waggle walk." He is the perfect fit for our family.
Anything else we should know about him? Tiki loves running, jumping, eating Cheerios and cuddling on the couch. He's the easiest-going dog ever.
