Balancing Community, Family, and a Sweet New Venture with the Joneses

Meet Chris, Katie, Addison, Avery, Ainsley and Alivia Jones! Chris and Katie have lived in the area for almost 30 years and met while attending Saint Vincent College together.

Chris grew up just outside of Pittsburgh and says he loves living in Greensburg with his family. They have lived in Glenn-Aire for five years.

“The area is affordable with great access to the mountains and downtown Pittsburgh,” he says.

The family is active in the local community and loves sports. Chris is a consultant at FTI Consulting, Inc. and Katie is a homemaker who is the assistant girls lacrosse coach at Greensburg Central Catholic. Chris also coaches girls basketball at Aquinas Academy and at Greensburg Central Catholic Junior High.

Addison, Chris and Katie’s eldest daughter, recently graduated from Greensburg Central Catholic and will be attending Denison University in the fall to study biology. She enjoys swimming and lacrosse and hopes to become a veterinarian in the future.

Avery and Ainsley also attend Greensburg Central Catholic and love to play sports as well. Avery will start 10th grade in the fall and plays both basketball and lacrosse at Greensburg Central Catholic. She also plays AAU basketball on SLAAM. Ainsley will be entering 8th grade and enjoys playing basketball both at school and for the Erudite AAU team.

Alivia is the youngest member of the Jones family and an avid athlete as well. She plays both basketball and volleyball at Aquinas Academy and swims for the Greater Latrobe Aqua Club.
The family loves to spend time together outdoors or in their pool relaxing after a busy day. They also have two dogs named Gracie and Max.

Their favorite family activities include attending Steelers games, vacationing to the Outer Banks or Deep Creek Lake, and visiting their favorite local restaurants. The family enjoys Marino’s American Eatery, El Diablo Brewing Co. & Wood-fired Kitchen and Jaffre’s Restaurant & Bar.

When they aren’t busy with work, sports or their volunteer obligations, Chris and Katie run DonutNV Greensburg, which is a food trailer that serves hot mini donuts and fresh squeezed lemonade.

“Between kids in activities, time with friends and family, etc., we never thought we would have time to stop and explore owning a business outside of working in corporate America,” Chris says. “After the first meeting with a franchise consultant, the financials of the franchise model and the concept of this being a lifestyle business (we could do it full or part-time as much or little as we wanted), we decided to jump head first into the opportunity and not miss out on what we feel is a fun business with good financials that allows us to maintain our lifestyle, stay involved in the kids activities and connect with the community.”
