Ray O’ Sun
On August 17th, 1988, Nancy Wimer received an amazing birthday gift. Her husband, Warren Wimer, bought her a brand new 20 ft Duffy which he named Ray O’ Sun. The story behind the boat’s name goes back to the Wimer’s college years.
Both Mr. & Mrs. Wimer attended the University of Maryland and started dating during their sophomore year. After a few dates, Mrs. Wimer felt it was time for Mr. Wimer to meet her parents, who lived about 15 miles from school. While Mrs. Wimer was getting ready for the date, Mr. Wimer had the pleasure of talking with Mrs. Wimer’s father. After a few minutes, her mother entered the room and said to Mr. Wimer, “Nancy is just a ray of sunshine every time she enters a room, and lights it up.” She wasn't scolding him, but it was clear Mrs. Wimer’s mother was very proud of her daughter and wanted to make sure that her partner knew just how lucky he was. So, in 1988, when Mr. Wimer went to name the new boat, he thought back to that day and named it, in some way, after his wife.
