Henry Plumbing Company is a 4th generation family-owned plumbing contractor business. We have been in business since 1968, celebrating 55 years in business this year. We handle all plumbing needs from a leaking faucet to larger new construction projects. 

Tonya Flanders Reed grew up in Savannah, GA riding along with her dad and grandfather taking care of plumbing customers. Today she serves as CFO/Owner along with her husband Todd Reed, President/Owner, who is originally from Geary, OK. Todd was stationed at Hunter Army Airfield, in the 1st Ranger Battalion, when they met. After they were married, they moved to Ft Campbell, KY and then returned to Savannah to make it their permanent home. “It’s hard to take a Savannah girl away from home too long”, says Tonya Reed.

Tonya and Todd got involved in the family business in 1994 after they decided to leave the military. Tonya’s father, Winston Flanders, became ill and passed away. This left her grandfather, R. G. Henry, Sr., uncle, Glenn Henry, Jr., and mother, Elizabeth (Betty) Flanders running the business. At that time the business was focusing on new custom homes and light commercial projects. Todd went to work on commercial projects, learning from the ground up, until Tonya’s grandfather had him come into the office to learn how to read blueprints and start bidding on commercial work.

In 2009-2010 when the economy took a downturn, most custom home builders went out of business, Tonya decided to start the “service” side of the business. She started with one service van and has grown that portion of the business by 100+%. The service portion of the business brings in fast revenue while waiting on the larger projects to pay.

Moving forward to the 4th generation, Tanner, and Meghan Reed. Tanner and Meghan grew up in Richmond Hill Georgia. Tanner went into the Army after high school serving 5 years in the Army with 2 tours to Afghanistan. Meghan attended the University of Georgia and graduated with a degree in Consumer Economics. She then went on to attend Armstrong State University and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She practiced as a Registered Nurse in the Pediatric and Mother/Baby departments at Candler Hospital for 5 years. After their marriage in 2021, Meghan decided to join Tanner in the family business. Tanner’s role in the business is to estimate and schedule the service customers. Meghan is the office manager, handling everything from HR to billing.

Henry Plumbing Company currently consists of inside commercial and residential estimators, office managers, 2- CSR, outside supervisor, warehouse manager, apprentice, and lead technicians. We continue to focus on growth within, often promoting those who have learned the Henry Plumbing way from helper to lead technicians. We focus on education with new plumbing products, new plumbing codes and licensing. We have secured educational grants with the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Incumbent Worker Training Grant through WorkSourse Coastal. This program is to help “skill up” existing staff to receive their Journeymen license for the State of Georgia. This year, we received one of the highest honors of Henry Plumbing to date. On Thursday, May 4th in Atlanta, GA, Henry Plumbing Company was recognized by the U.S Small Business Association, GA District, as the 2023 Georgia – Family Business of the Year.

We accepted the award and noted a key part of our success is our investment in our employees and the greater Savannah community, through supporting business-to-business success and area nonprofits.
