The Walls Family

Community, Career, and Health

The advice that Bryan and Amber Walls would give to new arrivals to the M Streets is “get walking around and meet your neighbors by going to some of the neighborhood happy hours or get involved in the community by becoming a block captain - this neighborhood is guaranteed to become your lifelong home.” Amber and Bryan have lived here since 2013, and in their present home on McCommas Boulevard for the past eight years.

After growing up in Dallas, Amber graduated from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. She furthered her education by attending Baylor Nursing School in Dallas and obtained her Evidence Based Practice Research Fellowship from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. She later went on to receive her Master of Nursing and Doctor of Nursing and completed her inpatient and outpatient nursing residencies in the Dallas/ Fort Worth area while working for Texas Health Resources since 2011. Today, she uses her expertise with the goal of improving the quality of healthcare, practicing as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Texas Health Family Care in Dallas. Bryan Walls, graduated in Finance and Business from the University of Georgia and began his career in insurance with The Hanover Insurance Group before moving into brokerage with Willis Towers Watson and now Alliant. Earning certification as a Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist, he focused on commercial construction insurance and risk management. Today, his role is Vice President Brokerage at Alliant Insurance Services in Addison, Texas.

The couple shares two children, Wesley (six), a student graduating kindergarten at Mockingbird Elementary, and Vera (two and a half) who is at Saint Christopher's Montessori. Wesley is already on the KC Sharks swim team at the Kaycee Club, as well as playing basketball, flag football, and soccer with the YMCA. As Amber says of the family’s sporting fun, “We love playing pickleball, basketball, and swimming in the backyard.” Both kids love to play at home but also love to play with other kids in the neighborhood always making every attempt to make new friends. Bryan enjoys playing golf at various clubs around the metroplex, basketball in the mornings with friends, and pickleball pick up at Cole Park, while Amber enjoys walking around the neighborhood with her longtime girlfriends.

Enthusiastic about how much the neighborhood offers a young family, Amber continues: “we love being able to walk everywhere from grabbing donuts and coffee from local pastry shops, to brunch at Taverna off the Katy Trail, or even grabbing groceries with the kids in the Wagon at Trader Joe’s.” Their favorite local restaurants are Pizzeria Testa and the Terilli’s patio, yet the family is happy cooking and grilling at home. The family can be found together in Glencoe Park, in their own or a neighbor’s backyard. When the family does leave their beloved neighborhood, their favorite trips are to the different beaches or to Texas Resorts for long weekends. Amber has volunteered in the community by helping donation-based clinics obtain government funding through policy writing as well as founding a publishing technology start-up ‘Real Pearls of Health’. Her goal is to attract top talent authors with diverse training experience in all healthcare fields to promote health literacy and fight internet health misinformation in the community.
