Meet the Lubers: Building a Better Community, One Adventure at a Time

For over a decade, Jennifer Atchison and Daniel Luber have called Greenland Hills home, creating a life rich in community service and adventure. Originally from Southern Illinois and Northern New Jersey, respectively, they met during graduate school at the University of Michigan and made their way to Dallas from Newport Beach, California, in 2013. Together with their two children,William (10) and Alexandra (8), the Luber family embodies the spirit of giving back while making the most of life in the M Streets.

Jennifer serves as the Chief Advancement Officer at Austin Street Center, a nonprofit dedicated to providing shelter and services for North Texas' most vulnerable homeless population. Her passion for helping those in need has deeply influenced the family’s approach to community involvement. Daniel, who leads Business Development at Organon, a global pharmaceutical company, shares Jennifer's commitment to making a difference. Both Jennifer and Daniel volunteer as youth sports coaches with the Lake Highlands Soccer Association and the White Rock YMCA, contributing their time to support local kids in their athletic pursuits.

When they’re not busy volunteering or working, the Luber family embraces a love for travel and adventure. Every year, they make a trip to Far West Texas, where they enjoy stargazing at the McDonald Observatory and hiking through Big Bend National Park. Their adventures have taken them as far as Honduras, where they explored Mayan ruins and national parks. Next spring, they’re planning another exciting family trip to Costa Rica. Locally, they enjoy biking around White Rock Lake and spending quality time outdoors.

William and Alexandra are just as active as their parents. William is a competitive swimmer and soccer player, while Alexandra plays soccer, basketball, dances and takes piano lessons. Both children are involved in scouting - William is working toward his Arrow of Light rank - and they both love staying busy with school clubs, reading, and spending time with friends.

The Lubers’ favorite part of living in the M Streets? The friendly neighbors and the beautiful, shady trees that make the area feel like home. Their advice to new families in the neighborhood: “Get to know your neighbors and don’t hesitate to ask for advice on everything from childcare to local tips—it’s the best way to feel connected.”

For the Luber family, giving back to the community and sharing adventures has become a way of life. With a focus on both service and fun, they are truly a family that makes us proud to call them neighbors.
