The Rohde Family

YouTube and Fashion Design

Ask Violet, the six-year-old daughter of Ron Rohde about her father’s work and she will tell you “My dad makes You Tube videos.” Ron is a prolific video creator in his role as a corporate and commercial real estate attorney running his own law firm, Ronald Rohde Law (ronaldrohdelaw.com). Ron’s videos include informative ‘how to’ explainers of aspects of commercial real estate, and ‘behind the scenes’ tours of commercial development sites, all designed to help to educate investors and developers. His background is in investment immigration, and he is proficient in Mandarin Chinese with fluent native speakers on his team.

A native of North Texas, Ron attended Cornell University, where he majored in Philosophy and Economics, and met his wife Beth, who was studying Communications. After continuing his education at the University of Miami School of Law, Ron worked in commercial real estate in Dallas before opening his own law firm. Real estate has always been in Ron’s blood. “My parents were real estate investors,” he explains, “but it's such a broad topic that you can choose your own path, and I chose to focus on the industrial sector for my own investments.”

Beth’s career has been in fashion and retail, and today she is a Director at luxury watch brand MICHELE, a subsidiary of Fossil. The couple shares two children, Violet who attends the dual language program at Mockingbird Elementary, and three-year-old son Mercer who goes part-time to Spanish World School.

Ron and Beth love the M Streets neighborhood and are living in their third home here in eight years. “We needed more space and at the same time wanted to invest in houses. We kept the last one and are renting it,” Ron continues. He describes the area as “one of the only walkable neighborhoods in North Texas” and appreciates the accessibility of restaurants and shopping. He highlights the newer smooth sidewalks, and the shade thrown by the old trees. He loves the unique character of each house. “The neighborhood has embraced the idea of older homes with each one custom built and different, whether it’s in the façade or brickwork,” he says, “and while other areas may have newer designs and wider streets, they can be devoid of character, and you cannot walk outside in 90 degrees”. Beth and Ron’s own home has a pool and has become a ‘hangout’ spot for friends and their children, as well as Violet’s classmates.

When time permits, Ron races his Porsche Cayman on one of the racetracks close by, a passion he inherited from his father. He is also ‘captain of the neighborhood block captains,’ a role he takes seriously. “We want to keep neighbors abreast of events in the community: the Greenville Ave St. Patrick's Day Parade, the Dallas Marathon, and all the street improvements and crime watch updates,” he concludes, “at the Greenland Hills Association we are a resource to keep people in touch, while respecting their privacy.”
