Seeing The Trophy!
I've been going to Rangers' games since before I could walk. And on January 9th I was privileged to see the Texas Rangers World Series trophy. I was working on a theater monolouge for school when my dad walked in a said to me "hey, do you want to go see the World Series trophy?" and I popped out of my chair and exclaimed "yes!!" I couldn't believe that I was actually going to see it in person!
When we were just about to leave, I asked my dad if I could take something for someone to sign because he told me that Josh Sborz and Josh Smith were going to be there. He told me that it would be better if we just went there immediately to avoid a long line, so I agreed, and we headed out.
We started driving to the 105.3 The Fan's radio station (which isn't far from the neighborhood) where the trophy was on display. When we got there, we headed to a room with a line out the back. When we got through the line, I saw it - the World Series trophy.
After we saw the trophy and took pictures with it, we sat down and heard Josh Sborz and Josh Smith get interviewed live on The Fan. As we were leaving, a very kind man gave me a signed autographed of both of the players, plus the manager of the radio station offered to give us a tour (which not everyone got). We were actually leaving early so I could finish that theater monologue, but my dad and I decided it was worth staying for, so we did.
When we were touring the station, we got to see a podcast prep and a live podcast. I was really interested in this because the last two summers I've participated in Play By Play Sports Broadcasting camp at SMU. As a baseball player, this was an extremely exciting experience for me!
