Meet President Lincoln the French Bulldog!
What’s your origin story, Lincoln? My two dads, Jon & Jamie got me from a breeder-to-the-stars-breeder, on a farm in Budapest, Hungary. I was born in November of 2023 and at three months old, I was packaged onto a jumbo jet, picked up at DFW airport and escorted to our Merrimac home. Boy was I glad to get out of that cargo hold!
What are the traits of your breed? Speaking of “Frenchies,” the French Bulldog lineage is actually English. During the Industrial Revolution, it was assumed that the hand-tatted English lace business would soon be a thing of the past, so a large portion of the lady lace-makers made their way to France, with us in tow. There we gained instant popularity and favor among the French. So my story goes from ‘Tally Ho’ to ‘Bon Jour’ to ‘Jó napot’ to ‘Howdy Y’all!’ Our friendliness, no-bark tendencies and cute little bat-ears, make it easy to see why we are admired and desired from Blenheim, to Bordeaux to Budapest to Burleson. We are in fact, completely irresistible.
Any funny stories? I like to reserve my energy, build it up and then suddenly, spaz out and run around in circles for a quick ecstatic dance session. Once that’s done, I’m a good dog, and well behaved as witnessed by my many dinner party invitations.
Any funny talents or quirks? I’m undoubtedly the World’s Greatest Cuddler. The rules are, I must sleep with and be next to Daddy Jon at all times. I’m a touchy-feely kinda puppy and have Happy-Dog-Syndrome.
Favorite Activities? Due to my kinesthetic characteristics, I have developed my very own technique to get noticed and score extra pets from others. When out with J&J for a meal, I strategically position myself by the front door of the restaurant, look up at people and mentally say, ‘okay to pet me. I would love if you would do so now.’ Then, they usually do! This technique works at restaurants, private homes and anyplace people come and go. I’m a Super Love Bug.
What else should we know about you Lincoln? Although it’s completely obvious that Daddy Jon is my ‘go-to’ person, Papa Jamie takes me on walks every day and he is totally growing on me. I must admit, it would be tough to be without either one of them for very long.
