Success, Resilience, and the Power of Unconditional Love: A Conversation with Brandon Triche
Process vs. The Outcome

For Brandon, success is relative, and the process matters just as much—if not more—than the outcome. Being in the Final Four at SU remains one of his greatest accomplishments, even though he’s played in championship games overseas watched by 100,000 people. “It’s all relative,” he said.
Looking back, he admitted he didn’t push himself as much academically, opting for a “good enough” mentality. But he emphasized that success doesn’t mean doing everything perfectly. He knew that he didn’t have the time or energy for that. “Figure out what you need to do to be successful in what you’re applying yourself to. Work the hardest and do your best at that.”
Brandon’s advice for success is beautifully simple:
- Set realistic goals.
- Dream big and have far-fetched goals that push you.
- Be present in the process, practice gratitude, and celebrate the small wins.
Generational Shifts and Lessons Learned
When reflecting on today’s generation, Brandon called them “softer and gentler” when it comes to winning and losing, but he sees this as a good thing. “It’s important for kids to feel good about the effort they put in,” he said, “because it builds the confidence they need long-term.”

Brandon’s perspective is refreshing: success isn’t defined by perfection, nor is failure an end. Instead, it’s about growth, love, resilience, and supported determination. Whether it’s bouncing back from injuries, adjusting to setbacks, or appreciating the unconditional love of his parents, Brandon has learned to embrace the process while staying grounded in gratitude.
His words are a reminder for all of us—students, parents, and professionals alike—that success isn’t a fixed destination. It’s built step by step, with humility, persistence, and the courage to keep showing up. Brandon Triche’s journey teaches us that success is about being present enough, resilient enough, and supported enough to keep growing. It’s about celebrating the small wins, learning from setbacks, and finding joy in the process.
