"As life may give you lemons, you learn to make lemonade"
My name is Mark Noble and my family and I have been residents of the Village of Fayetteville for the past eight years. Before moving here, we lived in the Village of Manlius, where our three daughters grew up in that home for nine years.
Katya, our oldest daughter, is a junior studying nursing at SUNY Binghamton. Kaylene, our middle daughter, also studying nursing, is a freshman playing volleyball for St. John Fisher University. Malana, a sophomore at Fayetteville Manlius High School, plays on the Varsity
Volleyball team. Karin, my wife of 21 years, is a teacher at Enders Road Elementary. And Brody, our little four-year-old Mini Goldendoodle.
Central New York has been my home my entire life, with the exception of two years, when I graduated from Owego Free Academy, near Binghamton. I then attended Syracuse University, graduating with a degree in Illustration in 1997. Karin and I met two years later at Tinker Falls, on a hike with our church's singles group. We hit it off immediately, and to this day, still do many fun things we did when we first met, now with our girls. Spending an afternoon at Southwick Beach, exploring the area on hikes or kayaking (some enjoy this more than others), visiting Beak n Skiff in the fall and relaxing by our pool and playing volleyball in the backyard.
Art has always been a large part of my life. After college, I tried to become a freelance artist, and a few projects came across my path. Eventually, I worked as a house painter, although this was not exactly my dream job as an artist, the experience was beneficial, by providing skills to expand my abilities and what I could offer as an artist.
Upon a visit to Davinci’s in 1998, a restaurant in Armory Square, I offered to sell my paintings, but the owner asked me if I painted murals. I said "Sure, I paint murals.”, although I had never painted one. So, I was given the opportunity to paint a mural, which led to other companies requesting murals from me. Unfortunately, the work wasn’t steady enough to support me full-time, so I accepted a position as a Graphic Designer for FOX68 & WB43 Television Stations in Syracuse. That experience allowed me to learn graphic design, which I have been utilizing ever since.
While working there, the church I had been attending asked me to assist with graphics and then hired me full-time. I enjoyed many roles there, starting as Office Manager, then Communications Director, Graphic Designer, Mural Artist, and Stage & Display Designer were added to my repertoire. My career there lasted seventeen years, and each new experience allowed me to grow as an artist.
In 2020, our pastor retired, bringing many changes, and leaving me looking for employment. I was 45, and felt like 21 again, trying to decide what to do with the next chapter of my life.
As life may give you lemons, you learn to make lemonade. My painting experience when I was 21 came back around when a former colleague offered me a position as a house painter with Plumbline Construction. Within three months, another friend hired me for an amazing opportunity to create an ocean-themed environment for Pediatric Dentistry in Fayetteville, a new dentist office. They requested a giant 3D octopus for their lobby, multiple murals in the building, and an old boat to be built and installed on a hallway ceiling, and I said "Sure, I can do that." My previous education and experience all came together perfectly and provided me with the necessary skills to be able to commit to this venture.
That led me to start my own business, and am saying "Sure, I can do that" to as many opportunities as I can. I've also learned carpentry from a master carpenter, allowing me to design and build commercial and residential feature walls.
Murals are still one of my passions, and I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to paint multiple murals throughout Fayetteville and Manlius over the past two years.
I have enjoyed serving the community as a Trustee in Manlius, a committee member for Parks and Rec, and the VP of FM Little League for a few years, and I still volunteer my time when I can. Connecting local business owners with other owners is also one of my passions.
One of our favorite things to do as a couple is to watch the sunset, especially at one of our many local lakes. It reminds us of the amazing creator that God is, and I thank God for what He has done in our lives. And I look forward to more incredible offerings He will place along our path.
