ModMaids

Ms. Stacey Rubio

Where did you grow up? How long have you lived in the area?
I was born and raised in Tulsa and left at 17 for Nashville, TN. I found my way back to Tulsa in 2020 during the pandemic, leaving my career as a flight attendant. Since 2013, I had been living and based in Pittsburgh, PA.

Tell us about your family.
I live with my fiancé, Armando, who is a large loss project manager with Servpro Tulsa, our 16-year-old junior, "E," who attends Sapulpa High School, and our dogs, Duke and Bonnie. We reside in the Heights. All of my immediate family, which includes my older and younger brothers, their wives, and kids, as well as my dad's entire family, live here in Tulsa. So many aunts, uncles, cousins, and more. My Oklahoma roots run several generations deep!

Tell us about the events that led up to where you are now.
Like many, the pandemic prompted me to reevaluate what truly makes me happy. While traveling and aviation were passions of mine, being near friends and family felt more important. After 20 years away, I decided to make Tulsa my home again. The last four years have been a journey of rediscovering the many great things I missed out on growing up here and the amazing city Tulsa has become! Finding my place took some time, but in March 2023, ModMaids was born. For the past 16 months, I've been keeping Tulsa clean with a fun vintage twist and loads of old-fashioned cleaning know-how.

Why did you start these businesses?
When I was a kid, my mother cleaned houses in Midtown, and she taught me how to clean just as her mom taught her—everything from top to bottom! While finding my path here in Tulsa, I noticed that the cleaning options were either large national franchises or local businesses that didn't stand out as truly local. I wanted to combine my love of cleaning, all things retro, and give it a distinct Tulsa feel. This passion led to the creation of our unique character, complete with its oil derrick spewing bubbles and our slogan, "Cleaning On Tulsa Time, So You Don't Have To."

What is your passion or mission surrounding your businesses?
At ModMaids, we don't just bring sparkling clean homes to Tulsans with our fun, retro vibe; we also love giving back to local charities and rescues, with Oklahoma Warriors Honor Flight and Mercy Sake Second Chance Rescue being our top beneficiaries. Our mission extends beyond cleaning—we aim to create amazing career opportunities for individuals who often find themselves in service industry jobs with inflexible hours, working at large impersonal corporations and lower- end pay. We boast a fantastic team at ModMaids, where employees enjoy a typical-5 schedule, fostering a wonderful work-life balance and ample time for family. Our team members earn a living wage while working in a supportive and fun atmosphere, truly feeling like they are part of a second family.

What is unique about your businesses?
Our standout feature is our vibrant, mid-century vibe, embodied in our turquoise cars adorned with flying mops. We take immense pride in being an all-inclusive cleaning company where every Tulsan feels safe and comfortable inviting us into their personal space.

Given your business expertise and the nature of what you do, what advice can you offer to the residents?
Why spend a precious second on cleaning when ModMaids can do it for you? There is so much of Tulsa to enjoy!

What else should we know about you, your family, or your business?
ModMaids currently has a fleet of two ModMobiles and a team of eight employees. We plan to keep expanding over the next few years but will never lose our local vibe and personal touch!
