Copper
Copper with Ryan and Caroline
Hi there, Moore’s Mill! My name is Copper, and I’m a 10-year-old male yellow Lab. I absolutely love living in Moore’s Mill with Kent, Kristen, Ryan, and Caroline Lambert.
How did I get here? Well, when Caroline was a little girl, she had a poster of yellow Lab puppies hanging in her room. She had always said, “I want a puppy like that!” Kristen and Ryan remembered Caroline’s poster when their friend’s dog had a litter of yellow Lab puppies. They brought me home and surprised Ryan and Caroline with the best Easter surprise ever — me! As you might have guessed, that was the best Easter ever!

Ryan and Caroline named me after Copper from their favorite childhood movie, The Fox and the Hound. They chose the perfect name if I do say so myself!
I’m 10 years old now, so I have officially retired from running around, jumping on my owners, and eating socks. These days, I’m happy to sleep, sleep, and sleep. However, I do get wild and excited when Ryan and Caroline come home from college to see me. I show them how excited I am by jumping high into the air like a kangaroo. I also like to open my mouth really wide and show off all my teeth and gums. My family calls this my “goofy grin,” but I honestly have no idea what that is!
I don’t like cold, heat, or bugs, and I prefer to stay inside with the AC, my comfy bed, and my toys. I also love food! One time, Kristen baked two fresh loaves of delicious pumpkin bread. I waited patiently for Kristen to leave the kitchen. When she returned, there was only one loaf left! She followed the trail of crumbs and found me lounging in the living room; the pumpkin bread was nowhere to be found. I immediately gave her the “puppy eyes” and hoped that she wouldn’t be too upset. Guess what? It worked!

Even though I can’t snitch a load of pumpkin bread without being caught, I do get to eat warm canned food every night — without feeling guilty. I also expect treats when I do something special or show off for my family.
My favorite part about living in Moore’s Mill is going on long walks and smelling all the smells. If you see me, be sure to say hi! If you give me a treat, I promise we’ll be friends forever!
