Looking back at Christmas!
Claire and Rose Harker
At the time of writing this, it is still just before Christmas and my family is enjoying lots of Christmas activities and our family traditions! Do you have Christmas traditions?
Here are some of our favorites if you need ideas for next year!
We like singing all the Christmas songs, and my favorite Christmas song is Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. What's your favorite Christmas song?
My family loves putting up our outdoor Christmas decorations and the Christmas lights; it is magical to drive around our neighborhood at night right now and see everyone’s lights.
My personal favorite Christmas tradition is spending time with family and friends and drinking eggnog with my family, and hot cocoa.
Decorating the Christmas tree is so fun!! My second favorite family tradition is we each get a new ornament each year. Usually, it is to do with something we accomplished in that year. This year, my ornament is of a slalom water skier! I learned how to waterski on ONE ski this summer!
For counting down to Christmas, we like to do a few different advent calendars. We do a LEGO building one, a nativity countdown from my Grandma, and the 25 Days of Christ one with a scripture to read, a Bible video to watch, and the corresponding ornament to add to the tree.
And of course, we like waking up and seeing the presents under the tree. I hope we're all thankful for the things we get on Christmas Day.
I love seeing all those Christmas sweaters everywhere, and I hope you all have/had a Holly Jolly Christmas this year and got what was on your list!
I hope these gave you Christmas tradition ideas for next year.
This year, I was in The Nutcracker with Hickory Ballet & Performing Arts. I did two performances today, and I have three more over the next week. I am one of the sheep in Act 2. There are good sheep and one naughty sheep. Harper Stout, Emily Cunningham, Ruby Cunningham, and my sister, Rose, were also in the play. We are very proud and excited about our hard work and practice.
I'm writing this for January, so I hope you have a good Christmas next year, too. Have a Holly Jolly Christmas, and I hope you all have fun traditions now and next year! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
