Murphy and Molly
Our precious pets for this month are Murphy (1.4 yrs) and Molly (1 yr), who own Cathie and Bill Lane. These adorable Teacup Havanese dogs definitely qualify as precious and are proud clients of our new Precious Pet sponsor, Groomer Has It. Let's let Cathie tell us all about their beautiful pups!
Murphy is quite the gentleman and needs companionship. Molly is Miss Independent and aggressively playful - she loves teasing Murphy.
We chose them because they are hypoallergenic and non-shedding with either long or short fur, they love people and other animals, and they are not barkers. Murphy weighs 13 pounds and is so solid. Molly weighs 8 pounds and is still light as a feather. They are small dogs and will not become much larger. When we have company over for dinner, we can put them in their room, and they just chill until we say it's ok to be with us.
When we first obtained Murphy, he ran out the front door and thought it was time to play, running around our neighbors' homes with us chasing him. We had to enlist neighbors to help capture him. He loved the excitement! Murphy is so happy with Molly here. He needed a playmate. In the yard or house, she will taunt him with a toy or a bone or just a stare, and then the chase is on; or she will body slam him, and they wrestle. They love to take leashed neighborhood walks. A friend has a Ridgeback named Tax, large dog, and he and Murphy are buds, it is hilarious watching them walk together - Murphy raises his head and tail high as he is quite proud of himself. Both Murphy and Molly like to skip when walking. Friends are welcome to come over and bring their dogs for playdates in our fenced backyard.
We have spoiled them a bit. Now and then, I cook for them. They love baths, so it is almost a daily event - with a waterfall bathtub, it is easy to rinse off yard debris.
Per Bill, there is unconditional love (obviously, mine is conditional)! This is a hard one for me - having grown up on a mini farm as a child with loads of animals and pets, I totally understand the level of responsibility and work associated with pet ownership. I did not want pets or the responsibility; however, Bill greatly wanted another pet. So I gave in with conditions, of course! Murphy is very attached to me and is constantly underfoot, and I needed some space; therefore, we obtained another pet, Molly. These types of dogs love and need each other - it was a great decision to have two; it actually is less work for me as they entertain each other. Yes, I love them!
