Okra Fries…Forget about the Tater!!!!





This okra fries recipe is simple and quick to make, and doesn’t require any fancy ingredients. The best part is that you can modify it to taste, or exclude any of the spices that you don’t have on hand.

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 pound okra, whole (we leave the stems on...they become nice little handles for munching)
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt (or to taste)

INSTRUCTIONS
  1. AIR FRIED
    -Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees F
    -Put the okra into a mixing bowl, drizzle olive oil over them, and toss to thoroughly coat.
    -Add sea salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika, and toss again to coat.
    -Spread the okra in a single layer in the air fryer basket, spacing them out evenly, cook in batches if necessary.
    -Bake okra fries for 5 minutes, then shake the basket. Bake them for 5 additional minutes, or until they are as crisp as you like. 
  2. OVEN FRIED (we use this method)
    -
    Preheat the oven to 400 degrees
    -Put the pieces in a single layer on a large baking sheet, or in a mixing bowl.
    -Drizzle olive oil over the top, and toss to thoroughly coat.
    -Sprinkle sea salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika over them, and toss again until all pieces are coated.
    -Spread them out evenly on the baking sheet, use two if needed. Take the time to space them so they aren't crowded.
    -Bake okra fries for 10 minutes. Stir, then bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until they’re as crisp as you like them

Then, dip, munch and enjoy!  We rarely make French fries anymore and  they will turn okra haters into okra lovers!
