A Beloved Outdoor Family Space

For the past two years, Jason Alexander and his family have been remodeling and redecorating, making their house into a home, one room at a time. This summer, they embarked on their next, and one of their most beloved spaces, the porch.

Located at the back of the house, the two porches were divided by a wall prior to the Alexanders moving in. Being one of their favorite rooms, Jason and his wife, Allison, took it upon themselves to design, decorate, paint, and slightly remodel the porch on their own. In order to complete their vision, the two brought on the local specialists at Scioto Valley to advise on and provide the furniture that would fill the space.

In true team fashion, Jason and Allison divided and conquered the project, with Allison picking out paint colors while Jason worked on painting and removing the wall that divided the porch. The couple put careful consideration into every element, even painting the ceiling a lighter shade of blue, following a tradition that wards off evil spirits.

Inspired by a warm and classic southern charm aesthetic, Allison worked with Scioto Valley to select furniture that would bring the theme to life, embellishing with various decor and pillows. The Alexanders love and trust Scioto Valley’s expert advice and design inspiration, and have already begun purchasing numerous pieces for their basement remodel project.

For anyone thinking about remodeling their space, the Alexanders advise taking the necessary time to ensure you are making decisions that make your dreams a reality and truly capture what you want to live in long term. It’s safe to say that their decision to partner with Scioto Valley has indeed done just that, as they begin to enjoy their newly renovated porch that looks out onto Muirfield’s sprawling Country Club course.
