Meinke Exteriors Keeps Quality In, Water Out

Darren Meinke’s home improvement career started as a teenager in the village of Enon, Ohio. “I learned from a family-owned company that taught me how important it is to take pride in our work,” he recalls.

After high school, Darren moved to Columbus and worked for a seamless gutter company. There he met his future wife, Stephanie. The couple married in 1998 and moved to London, Ohio. Meanwhile, Darren continued his career in exterior home improvement. He used his skills to help other companies grow their business.

Then Darren had an epiphany. “I decided it was time to start my own business,” he recalls. Today, Meinke Exteriors focuses mainly on seamless gutter installation along with some siding projects. His philosophy remains the same. “I learned from the best, and I strive to be the best.”

Darren and Stephanie built their own family while building a family business. Eldest son Coleman joined the company full-time after graduating from college. He and fiancée Sierra, a nursing school graduate, will get married in October. Daughter Julia is studying to become a sonographer. She lives in Tennessee with husband Micah, who is stationed there on active duty with the U.S. Army. Youngest son Cooper is entering seventh grade.

With the next generation on board, Meinke Exteriors plans to continue their tradition of customer-focused service. “I built this business on honesty and hard work,” says Darren. “I take pride in knowing our work is the best.” Darren still does a lot of installation work and supervises crews that he trained.

One of those employees is Coleman, who started working with his dad in eighth grade. Now Coleman helps with all facets of the operation. “My son and I do our estimates,” Darren says. “We will not sell you something you do not need.” Darren is also no stranger to Muirfield Village. “I've worked in this neighborhood for many years. I am very familiar with these builds.”

Darren advises homeowners to always beware of water. “Water is your home’s worst enemy,” he says, and seamless gutters are critical to moving water away from a house. “I've worked on so many houses and see so much work that has been done wrong,” he continues. “Most homeowners do not realize it until it’s too late and causing water damage.”

Darren laments the home improvement contractors who give his line of work a bad reputation. He vows not to let you down. “We are a small, family-owned business. We are honest and do what is right,” Darren says. For any project, he urges people to get more than one estimate. If you aren’t sure what needs done, Meinke Exteriors can help. “We would love to answer any questions about your home’s exterior,” he says.
