Valentine’s Day is often associated with romantic love, but it’s also an opportunity to celebrate love and kindness with others. So often we get swept up in dates, roses, and fancy dinners and we forget the meaning of the holiday itself. Whether you're in a relationship, have children, or are spending time with close friends, this is a great time to show others you care about them.
Here are 10 ways to have a fun-filled Valentine’s Day with your family and friends.
- Have a Movie Night. You can pick a movie with a love or friendship theme. Make homemade treats or center your snack choices around red, pink, and white foods.
- Create Homemade Valentine’s Cards. Grab some art supplies and spend time together making cards. This can be a fun and personalized way to express love.
- Bake and Decorate Treats: Spend time in the kitchen making heart-shaped cookies, pizza, cupcakes, or other sweet treats. Decorate them with pink and red frosting, sprinkles, and other fun candy toppings.
- DIY Craft Session: Engage in a crafting session. You could create table decorations for a meal, make an art project, or even decorate the mantle above the fireplace. Kids can design a homemade Lego creation with theme-colored bricks.
- Game Night: Whether it's board games, video or card games, spending quality time together can be a lot of fun. Everyone can bring a themed dish to share.
- Create a Love Jar: Have each member in your group write down something on paper they love about the others. Put them into a jar anonymously. Spend time reading aloud on Valentine’s Day.
- Outdoor Adventure: If weather permits, center an activity around getting fresh air. You could go on a bike ride, hike, beach, or day at the park. This is a refreshing way to bond.
- Have a Bonfire: Coordinate everyone in the group with Valentine-themed Pajamas. Enjoy S'mores and themed spirits and/or mocktails.
- Photo Session: Grab some Valentine’s Day props, balloons, and dress in coordinated and themed colors. Have fun taking silly pictures. On the other hand, you could take pictures only for that special someone’s eyes.
- Acts of Kindness: Engage the group to perform acts of kindness for one another throughout the day. It could be as simple as writing a sweet note, performing a chore, or sharing a thoughtful gesture.
Remember, ultimately Valentine’s Day is about spending quality time and expressing love and appreciation for one another. You can customize all these ideas to fit your interests and preferences. Happy Valentine's Day!
