When Heath and Julie Robertson adopted their dog, they knew they had found a special companion. Named Kaci Kay Robertson, after her parents’ love for Kansas City and the Kansas City Chiefs, Kaci’s name pays tribute to the couple’s time living just outside of Kansas City on the Kansas side—often referred to as “KCK.”

Kaci, a delightful mix of Chocolate Lab and Australian Shepherd, joined the family in 2019 when she was about a year and a half old. The Robertsons discovered her while on their honeymoon in Italy. While relaxing in one of the most romantic destinations in the world, they stumbled across Kaci on petfinder.com. Without wasting a moment, they arranged to meet her immediately upon returning home. Two days after their honeymoon, Kaci officially became part of their family.

A Pup With Talent and Heart

From the start, Kaci proved to be an eager learner, always looking to make those around her happy. She quickly picked up a variety of tricks that never fail to impress. Whether she’s waving goodbye to guests, shaking hands to finalize a negotiation for treats, or playing dead in a finger-gun duel, Kaci knows how to entertain her family and friends. She’s also a pro at rolling over, showing off her agility and enthusiasm for learning new skills.

A Busy Life

Kaci’s life is nothing short of full. Twice a week, she heads to work with her dad, earning her the admiration of coworkers for her excellent attendance and upbeat attitude. She also spends two days a week at doggie daycare, keeping her social life active and her energy levels high. On her off days, Kaci helps her mom around the house, always eager to lend a paw.

But in August 2022, Kaci took on an even more important role—becoming a big sister to baby Adalyn. Though she might occasionally miss her days as the only “child,” Kaci has embraced her role, making sure to stay in the middle of all the family action. As Adalyn nears her second birthday, the bond between them grows, with Kaci often finding her little sister to be a helpful source of extra treats and scratches.

Life in Newman Village

Since the Robertson family moved to Newman Village in May 2024, Kaci has discovered the joys of daily walks with scenic views of neighborhood bunnies. Her fulfilling routine includes not only family time but also outdoor adventures, like hiking trips to the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. With her exciting schedule, rewarding work life, and fun vacations, calling Kaci spoiled might just be an understatement!
