Building a Legacy of Love, Connection, and Tradition

The Walsh Family: Creating Strong Foundations in Work, Home, and Community

Kevin and Jennifer Walsh met at A. E. Shull & Company, Jennifer’s family’s general contracting company. Jennifer is a third-generation member in the construction industry, having grown up around it. Today, Jennifer runs the office while Kevin oversees all the field operations. It really is a family affair. Whether it’s at work or at home, it’s clear to see family remaining at the center of the Walshes' lives.

Kevin and Jennifer’s love story began in her family’s construction company, however through the years, it has reached beyond the walls of A. E. Shull & Company. Last year, they celebrated their twentieth wedding anniversary and commemorated the milestone by taking a two-week trip to Eastern Europe. While they still take time to honor their own relationship, it wasn’t long before Kevin and Jennifer’s family quickly grew. Daughters Clayton and Landrey, and their dog Sophie, make up the remainder of the Walsh family unit.

Twins Clayton and Landrey are twelve years old, and sixth graders at Grace Community School. Clayton plays soccer and participates in volleyball and stunt. Beyond athletics, she also plays the piano. Landrey, like her sister, plays soccer, does club volleyball and stunt, as well as competitive cheer.

Kevin and Jennifer both grew up in Tyler and continue to enjoy what the city has to offer. Together, Kevin, Jennifer, Clayton, Landrey, and Sophie call Oak Creek their home. They have lived in Oak Creek for six years. “We chose it for the location and the community,” Jennifer says. If you spot a cool classic car around the neighborhood, it might be theirs. “Kevin restores classic cars, and we always have one in our garage.”

As a family, they love to travel. Sporting events, hunting, or really anything outdoors is right up their alley. They love the spring flowers along the Azalea Trail, riding bikes on Legacy Trail, and going to school sporting events. The Walshes' have a few favorite local dives, often enjoying Javi’s, Chuy’s, and Bruno’s. They attend First Baptist Church as a family. In the community, Jennifer is a past president for the Junior League of Tyler, and currently a Grace Community School Board member and Hospice Foundation Board member. She volunteers with the Texas Rose Festival and the Christus Women’s Foundation. Kevin, an outdoorsman, is on the pit crew for his friend’s championship SDBA drag boat team.

It’s clear to see how important family is to the Walsh family. You can witness their competitive streak, whether it’s playing mahjong (a new skill for the girls) or rooting for their favorite teams: the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Longhorns, and the Texas Rangers. They spend every weekend on the lake during the summer but set aside time for an annual summer trip to Rosemary Beach. Jennifer says they all remain most grateful for family, and with strong ties to the construction industry, it’s plain to see that the Walsh family is continuing to build something strong.
