Paris, France

Length of stay:
One week

Details about the resort / location:
We stayed in a boutique hotel close to the Louvre.

Describe the accommodations. What was your favorite part?
We loved where we stayed because it was on a quiet little street in the 1st arrondismont. We could walk to Musée du Louvre and spent time each day walking different parts of the Jardin des Tuileries as we started or finished our adventures for the day.

Describe any unique experiences you had:
We took the train to Disneyland Paris and spent the day from open to close experiencing both parks and everything they had to offer. Our favorite was drinking champagne on Main Street and watching the nighttime drone show at the castle.

What surprised you the most about your destination?
Paris was so child friendly. The girls were welcomed everywhere and enjoyed staying out exploring everything the city had to offer from food to history.

If you had children with you on the trip what were their favorite activities or events?
The girls' favorite part of the trip was visiting Versailles. They really enjoy history and Marie Antoinette specifically. Seeing the palace and the gardens was a really fun experience. They already decided they wanted to go back to spend more time exploring the gardens.

What was an experience or activity you'd recommend people do or try:
We definitely recommend a day trip to Disneyland! We took the RER train to Chessy and it drops you off at Disneylands entrance. It's so beautiful and was an amazing addition to our historic trip.

What food / drink do you recommend people try:
Wine. So much delicious French wine. And if you're feeling fancy get some escargot.

Was there a tip or trick you learned that others might take advantage of?
Take the metro and RER trains! It makes everything much quicker. Ubers and walking can take you an hour to get somewhere that the metro can take 15 minutes to get to.

Share a funny or fun story from your trip:
I tried to practice my French as much as possible and one day ordered "Steak frites" but instead was served “six huîtres”, which are six oysters! The kids will never let me live it down.

The thing you'd like to do if you had more time or on the next trip:
When we go next time we will definitely spend an entire day exploring Versailles gardens. We did the inside and loved it but missed out on so much outside. We'd take the train early in the morning and spend time biking, walking, boating. We'd like to eat lunch in the garden cafe and visit Marie Antoinette's cottage, The Hameau de la Reine.
