Las Brisas is something special—a classic high-end steakhouse vibe blended seamlessly with a Southwestern influence that both compliments and contrasts by degrees. From the perfectly chosen steak and seafood entrees to a carefully curated wine list that would be the envy of most dining establishments, Las Brisas provides a guest-centered experience that elevates any occasion.

 

This is both a special restaurant and a special review; we got to hear from a variety of folks working to make Las Brisas the place that it is. The staff, universally, is dedicated to providing the best possible experience to everyone that walks through the door. These are service industry professionals who understand that the guest experience is everything, as one of them explained to us: “We like to cater to our guests. If you have a special request, we go above and beyond to meet our guests' expectations and those requests. Upon leaving, our staff greet you with smiles, encouraging you to have a wonderful night and thanking you for dining with us.”

 

As perfect as the staff are, the setting is nearly as impressive. With three seating areas, Las Brisas offers something for every mood and occasion. The main dining room is classic fine dining, with white tablecloths, candlelight, and a refined vibe. The cocktail lounge retains the elite elements found in the main dining room but with a more relaxed feel—you can enjoy a game on TV and casual conversation with the other guests. If you’re in a al fresco mood, the patio offers tables overlooking a waterfall feature and pond where you can enjoy the peaceful view or watch sports on the TVs. Las Brisas has a table for any event and a way of making any meal feel like a special moment.

 

The driving force behind Las Brisas is of course the kitchen. Chef Matt Lopez and his team draw on their combined skills and experience to craft menus that are second to none. One member of staff explained it to us like this, and we’re hard pressed to say it better: “He [Chef Lopez] has been a part of this establishment for many years. He understands the expectations for a great experience from when our guests arrive to when they leave. Las Brisas is locally owned and operated, and we believe that adds magic to every experience. Chef Lopez loves to create new dishes that we feature on our revolving features board. He sources the highest quality products to create and maintain the exquisite meals served at Las Brisas. From our filet to our Wagyu selection, our chef takes his time to invest and ensure quality.”

 

Quality pervades every aspect of this menu. The ingredients are all of the finest quality, and combined in ways that maintain a classic steakhouse feel while seamlessly incorporating southwestern flavors. The best description we can find is “quietly eclectic”, drawing on diverse influences while still staying true to its roots.

 

The wine list, as we’ve mentioned, is frankly a delight and the staff are skilled at finding the perfect wine for any entree or meal. We’re told that Las Brisas offers wine dinners throughout the year, with specially selected pairings chosen by Chef Lopez, as well as more casual wine tasting events on their patio.

 

We were also told that Las Brisas is both available for and uniquely equipped for private events, which is something to bear in mind as wedding season approaches: “We have two different private dining rooms that can be rented throughout the year. They can accommodate anywhere from 5 to 75 people. It is perfect for any occasion, from rehearsal dinners to birthdays, pharmaceutical events, or business meetings. Both rooms have audio/visual capabilities if you need to have a presentation or slideshow. We also offer our patio and cocktail lounge as a private dining area. Although it does not have audio/visual capabilities, it is perfect for really large events and can accommodate up to 160 people.”

 

All in all this is a wonderful dining experience that beautifully compliments Lubbock’s restaurant scene.
