The Davis Family: Embracing Community, Tradition, and Texas Spirit in Oakmont

The Davis family—Katie, Marcus, and their lively two-year-old daughter Mary Nell—are a close-knit trio with deep roots in Texas. The family resides in Oakmont, where they have happily lived for about six years. Katie and Marcus both attended Texas Tech University, and while Marcus manages land at Scarlett Land Services, LLC, Katie is a dedicated real estate agent with Keller Williams Realty.

Early Roots and Love at First Sight
Katie grew up in Dallas and graduated from Highland Park High School, while Marcus is originally from Lubbock and graduated from Coronado High School. The couple met in 2011 at Café J's in Lubbock, where sparks immediately flew. They quickly knew they had something special, and the rest is history.

A Growing Family and Best Friends
Their daughter, Mary Nell, is an active and cheerful two-year-old who attends the LittleRidge program at Lakeridge Methodist Church’s Children’s Day Out and Ivybrook Academy twice a week. Mary Nell’s best friend is Piper, the family’s two-year-old White Lab, who joined them about three years ago. Piper is incredibly gentle and loyal, accompanying Mary Nell to school drop-offs and pick-ups twice a week. She’s a car-ride enthusiast and loves any chance to be near her family.

Family Traditions and Adventures
The Davises cherish family traditions, including a weekly Wednesday night dinner with Mary Nell’s grandmother, Barbara Davis. Every four years, the family spends Christmas at Camp Davis, their ranch in New Mexico. There, they cut down a pine tree, string popcorn, and make handmade ornaments—a tradition that makes the holiday season especially meaningful. Fridays and Saturdays often involve grilling and hosting friends and family, with Marcus showing off his skill at the grill while Katie enjoys an occasional tennis match.

Life in Oakmont
Katie and Marcus have fallen in love with Oakmont for its friendly community vibe, and they relish getting to know neighbors at every opportunity. Katie, the Social Chairman of the Oakmont HOA Board, helps organize neighborhood events and has a passion for connecting with the community. She’s also heavily involved with the Lubbock Cattlebaron’s Committee, a cause close to her heart due to her mother’s passing from breast cancer, and leads the Lubbock TriDelta Alumni Association.

Fun, Food, and Favorite Spots
With a shared love for Texas Tech Football, the Davises make it a priority to attend games every season. They also love exploring local spots like Neighborhood F&B, West Table, Dirk’s, and Las Brisas. When it’s time to unwind, Marcus hits the golf course, while Katie occasionally joins a tennis match. The family’s favorite vacation destinations include WaterColor in Florida and Cinnamon Shores, which they recently discovered and adored.

Advice for New Neighbors
If there’s one thing the Davises would tell anyone new to Oakmont, it’s to take time to meet the neighbors. “We’ve got some really wonderful people here,” says Katie. The neighborhood is full of warmth, and they look forward to welcoming even more young families and building lasting friendships.

The Davises truly embody the spirit of community and hospitality that makes Oakmont a wonderful place to live, and they look forward to sharing more memories and experiences with friends, family, and neighbors alike.
