Ramsower's Furniture & Design

A Legacy of Customization and Creativity in Lubbock

Pride runs deep in Lubbock and we always enjoy introducing our readers to businesses with longstanding roots in the community. This month’s Sponsor Spotlight focuses on Ramsower's Furniture & Design, a family-owned business serving our area since 1967. Far more than just furniture, Ramsower’s carries a complete scope of home décor needs in addition to offering design services to create custom looks for any space.

“We are a retail furniture store with a focus on customization and design,” said current owner Jason Ramsower. “The business started with my grandfather Rex Ramsower in Plainview TX in 1967.  Before that, the business was a Firestone dealership that decided to start selling appliances.  My grandfather saw the potential to add some furniture to the appliances and soon split the business off and started the furniture store.”
As the community grew, Ramsower’s expanded to meet changing needs. Jason tells us that this has lead to a more creative approach than that offered by many other furniture stores: “Our focus is on customization and design.  We have designers on staff that can help you as much as want during the sales process.  Buying from us includes complimentary design services. We will go to your home and make sure your vision comes true.  We also offer much more than just furniture: accessories, rugs, pictures, lamps, bedding, mattresses, window treatments and even wallpaper!”
As a lifelong Texan—raised in Waco and graduating from Baylor—Jason is invested in both the business and in Lubbock as a whole. He and his wife Jill are raising their family here, as he relates with pride: “We have 3 children, Tyler Ramsower who will be a sophomore at Baylor University and will do a fall semester abroad in Japan. Kamryn Ramsower will be a senior at Talkington School for Young Women Leaders and currently has plans to attend Baylor University. Our youngest, Landon Ramsower will be 8th grader at Laura Bush Middle School.” Creativity runs in both sides of the family as well; Jill Ramsower is a self-published author with several books available on Amazon.
And creativity—and a creative approach to aesthetics—takes center stage at Ramsower’s Furniture and Design. Homes that they’ve helped furnish and design have taken center stage during the Lubbock Parade of Homes, and their showroom gallery offers a wide variety of styles, brands, and design ideas to suite any residential need. During our conversation Jason emphasized the importance of visual referents and an overarching vision when approaching an interior design project: “Photos, photos, photos.  Take photos of your space.  Take photos of inspiration, color, and style. There are thousands of manufacturers out there; we keep an inventory of items that have worked for us in the past or to show something new; but we have access to so much more!” That variety and versatility are good news for Lubbock homeowners who are looking for high-quality furnishings, a creative yet timeless approach to design, and the kind of quality service and care you only get from a generational local business.
