Old Village Soap Company

Lilia is Old Village’s Young Achiever of the Month! We found Lilia’s business, Old Village Soap Company, on Instagram and couldn’t wait to find out what inspired her to start her business and learn more.

Lilia is seven years old. Her smile and laughter is contagious and her soap will “Nourish Your Skin Naturally!” Goat milk soap is moisturizing, has vitamins (A, D, and B6), and minerals. Its natural fats help maintain skin moisture. Follow along for our interview with Lilia!

What is an area you are particularly talented in?
Making soap!

What inspired you to start Old Village Soap Company?
I started making organic soap with my mom after being inspired by handmade soaps my grandfather would mail to us. It started out as something to do after school, then I started making soap to sell out in front of of our house. Now I have Old Village Soap Company, a business!

What do you enjoy most about running the Old Village Soap Company?
Spending time with my mom! I love making organic goat milk soap and spending time with my mom.

Is there something that makes you unique in this business?
We use all organic things to make the soup. No chemicals or anything unnatural goes into it. All of the ingredients for my soaps are the perfect combination of natural, organic, cruelty-free, and sustainable materials. I am 7 years old, but I believe it is never too early to start taking care of your skin!

What is your proudest moment? Who do you have to thank for helping you get there?
When people buy the soap I am proud. My mom!

Who is someone you admire and why?
I admire my mom because she is always nice and she helps me with my business.

What advice do you have for others looking to start a business?
1. Come up with a name. It would be funny if your business didn’t have one!
2. Always use organic things so you don’t get rashes or anything.

Beyond your business, what do you like to do? Are you involved with any sports or extracurricular activities? If you were to continue practicing your talent, what do you hope to become or accomplish someday?
Sometimes I do tennis lessons with my dad. I do gymnastics and Muay Thai (Brazilian kickboxing). I also love goats, cats, dogs and pretty much all animals so I really want to be a vet when I grow up, but in the meantime I like making soap with my mom!
