With years of experience in management and the service and construction industries, co-owners Cheryl Anderson and Malcolm Merriman opened the doors to their own company, MYLC General Contracting, in June 2023.

 

Malcolm, a U.S. Marine Corp. veteran, worked in management in the service industry for 12 years prior to going into construction. After 10 years working in construction, Malcolm decided it was time to start his own business. Cheryl, a 36 year service industry veteran, and Malcolm met while both were in the service industry. Three years ago they took their 12 year friendship to the next level—a partnership in life and business. They shared a vision of owning their own business and used their combined strengths to form MYLC General Contracting. A family business, the company uses the initials of the owners: M for Malcolm, C for Cheryl and Y and L for their silent partners, Cheryl’s brother and his wife.

While running MYLC can be a 24/7 operation, Malcolm and Cheryl take time outside the business to give back to the community. They are members of the Dallas Children’s Charities, whose mission is to distribute toys and money to support many local children’s charities in the North Texas Community. Malcolm and Cheryl also attend Hope Fellowship Church in Frisco.

 

Both native Texans, Cheryl and Malcolm share a home in Little Elm with their fur-babies: two cats, a 22 lb. black Bombay named Shadow and Gidget, a gray tabby, and their 13 year old rescued puppy Max, a rat terrier/chihuahua mix. In addition to work, church and giving back, Cheryl and Malcolm share a love of travel and also the armed forces—Cheryl’s dad was in the Army for 31 years. In honor of Malcolm’s Marine service, Cheryl and Malcolm gather with friends and family and other Marines for the Marine Corp. birthday every November.
