After 40 years in the Las Cruces community, Sun City Plumbing & Heating is proud to be local and family-owned! Founded in 1984 by David Olguin Sr., Sun City Plumbing & Heating is currently owned and operated by my wife Genevieve and me. Our son, Jayce, daughter, Jayla, and my sister, Jenna, all work at our company which employs 60 people total here in Las Cruces. Since purchasing the company in 2020, Genevieve and I have since been committed to expanding the company’s service offerings. While new construction plumbing and HVAC were the focus at the company’s inception, our plumbing and air conditioning service departments have been the focus of expansion.

My journey in the trades started at an early age. Growing up, I would help my dad with small tasks like digging, cleaning up, cutting pipes, etc. I enjoyed the hands-on work, but I was never actually planning on becoming a plumber until the day came when I needed a job that could support my family. As I learned more about the trade, I found out that I really loved it! Working on jobsites, building things, solving problems, improvising, and helping people were all parts of the job that I found very rewarding. Also, being that I was in a family business, I was able to attend college full-time while working full-time. In 2003, I became a licensed journeyman plumber and in 2005, I graduated from NMSU with a bachelor’s in business management. Shortly after graduating, I was handed more management responsibilities and we began expanding our HVAC division.

Fast forward to 2024 and our small family business has been able to not only withstand the challenges of the pandemic, economy crashes, inflation, ownership changes etc.; we’ve been able to flourish. Along the way, we have been fortunate to assemble a team of true professionals. Our management staff, our techs, our installers, customers service reps, and warehouse team all take great pride in serving our neighbors in Las Cruces.

This year will mark the opening of our new building location near La Llorona Park on Picacho! The new facility on Picacho will house a plumbing and HVAC showroom to help educate the community on the latest technologies such as heat pumps, fresh air devices, plumbing fixtures, water treatment, and much more. We also have available for purchase over-the-counter air filters, water filters, softener salt, and other expendables to keep homes and offices functioning at their best. We aim to streamline the purchasing process by keeping customers’ filter sizes on file for easy selection and offering curbside service for a convenient shopping experience.
