Lincoln Boys and Girls Cross Country
second place wins at OSAA
Another historic success for the Lincoln Cardinal Cross Country Team. Both teams (boys and girls) win second-place trophies at the OSAA meet, which equals the best finish in program history.
The girls started off the 2022-'23 school year being ranked no higher than eighth in any preseason poll. The team was looking to replace six of their top eight from last year. They focused all year on consistency and overcoming adversity. Although the last two weeks of the season had been nothing short of extremely challenging, the girls rallied around each other like they had done all year. Led by First Team All-Stater, Keira Saavedra in fourth place. Next up was second-team All-Stater, Sophia Malinoski, in 14th place. Eva Novy-Hildesley, Amelia Howell, Sarah Kane, Tilly Dettling and Elyse Henriksen were in 26th, 28th, 44th, 56th, and 75th places.
The boys also had an amazing OSAA meet. A senior-heavy team, they wanted to go out on a high note. The boys were led by First Team All-Stater, Samy Anderson, who was second overall — followed by Second Team All-Stater, Henry Alexander in 12th. Their third runner was Third Team All-Stater, Giacomo Capriotti, who finished 20th. Next up were Harrison Talcott, Jahallah Van, Oliver Tagalog and Eamon Whitten in 23rd, 36th, 59th, and 74th.
This was a truly special day for an incredibly special team. Go, Cards!
