“I’ve worked in construction since I was a teenager. The center line of any project is the foundation of the plan. The center line is what all the work is based on. When you have the right center line, the rest of the project will follow. That’s what we do here, we find the center line – the perfect place to start – and we work from there,” said Andy Maguire, Owner and Operations Manager of Center Line Concrete.
Andy is a Colorado native. He grew up in Loveland and that’s where he still hangs his hat today. In high school, he started pouring concrete with a local company named Edge Concrete. He worked in concrete through college, gaining experience in nearly every setting and environment. After college, Andy worked in construction for nearly a decade. While he learned other parts of the business, he never lost sight of the foundational concrete work he started with.
In 2012, Andy felt called to give back to the community that has given him so much. He began working as a volunteer firefighter. In 2014, he was hired full-time by a Northern Colorado fire department. “The best thing about being a firefighter is that I know that I’ll make a difference in our community every single shift,” he said. “I get to help people. I’m there for them in their worst moments and my crew and I make a difference.” Andy has now completed additional training to be on the heavy rescue. He has successfully completed many technical rescues in the mountains and canyons.
While Andy loves his work as a firefighter, the shift-schedule nature of the job has allowed him to dream bigger. “I just found that I missed being in the home services business,” he said. “Since I work a rotating shift, I can dedicate my efforts towards building a concrete business.”
In 2022, Andy started Center Line Concrete. He bids, designs, and manages residential and small commercial jobs around his fire schedule. “With Center Line, I’m able to bring a vision for their home or backyard to life. I can give people space to entertain or improve the functionality of their home. My clients trust that I can take their idea and make it a reality.”
Center Line takes on 30-50 mid-sized jobs per year. Center Line has a crew of four experienced contractors. With Andy’s twenty years of experience and the team’s dedication, there’s no job they can’t complete. They do repair work, driveways, patios, and more. Center Line’s niche is decorative concrete done with stamping, color pigments, lighting, and unique designs.
“In addition to me, the crew leader has more than 35 years of experience,” detailed Andy. “I just appreciate that the team is flexible and willing to do what it takes to get a great product. Concrete doesn’t always go the way you think it will, so the fact that they can pivot and make it work is huge.”
The thing that sets Center Line apart is their Colorado experience. “The weather and soil are unique here. You have to know what you’re doing to construct a lasting product. We have all worked here for years, so we know how to handle Colorado challenges,” he said.
When he’s not working, Andy loves to spend time outside, and with his two kids – Rowan (7) and Layton (4). He’s an avid rock and ice climber, and he enjoys fly fishing, camping, and hiking.
“My goal is to build trust with my clients. Our values of quality work, honest communication, and follow-through are at the core of what we do. My goal is to keep us working from the center line.”
