The Sheridan’s Poolside Retreat

Tom and Gabrielle Sheridan, along with their three children, Mackenzie, Catherine, and Tommy, have some prime real estate on Saint Francis Court as their back yard backs up to the Red Tail pool! What a great backyard for the kids to have grown up in for the past eight years! Like their location, their home is pretty special, too.
The Sheridans have so many great attributes to their house: The bedrooms are each a nice size and their living space/kitchen that they expanded gives the house a cozy open feel. They feel they truly lucked out when they purchased their home as it has a lot of appeal on the interior and exterior alike.
They certainly made this house exceptional when they remodeled all but the basement a year ago. This included, among many things, the removal of walls, bathroom gutting, and having custom hardwood floors installed throughout the entire home. They were fortunate to get a lot of help for the kitchen and bathroom design from their contractor, Sean Whalen owner of Custom Amish Cabinets, and from their interior decorating team of Megan McLeod and Colleen Walsh from Revive Home CLE. Tom and Gaby had a lot of their own ideas that they had mulled over during the years that they lived in the house to create the most idyllic setup for their entire family.
Gaby and Tom’s inspiration most definitely came from their desire to entertain their family and friends. They both have a lot of family, especially Tom, and they both enjoy cooking and hosting various events throughout the year. The changes to their home have provided them a better space for larger gatherings.
Their design and decorating was all locally inspired. With Megan and Colleen from Revive Home CLE, they did a lot of shopping for furniture at Brian’s Furniture in Westlake, which is locally owned. Brian’s Furniture was open to their vision for everything from the kids’ rooms, to the living room. Everything that was chosen very much reflects each family member's personality, including the three children. They also had some custom Amish furniture made by Tafel home (Amy Whalen, Owner). Their inspiration for those pieces came from various furniture designers, but tailored more to their style. Another huge part of their decorating was Village Lighting in Elyria. The Sheridans were so thankful for their keen sense of style and beautiful offerings that they chose for their home. Gaby admits that Tom and she are an anomaly, so they really appreciated the advice from their contractor and designers. They trusted their knowledge and let them run with it while adding their two cents in, as well.
Since this was such a huge remodeling project, the Sheridans actually moved out of their home to a rental in Westlake for about seven months. Everything was done over that period. Their designers decorated the house from top to bottom and did a reveal when it was complete, which was a dream come true for all of them. It didn't look put together until it had been decorated and the puzzle pieces came together.
When asked, “What is your favorite room in the house and why?” Gaby stated, “This is such a hard question to answer. There is a piece of every space done that is close to our hearts. The kitchen and family room give us a much cozier feeling than the closed off space before and our living room sets the tone for a glass of wine and time with friends. We could go on and on as every part of the remodel is incredible. We couldn’t be happier with the outcome and feel extremely thankful that we were able to do this overhaul.”
If they could do it all over again they wouldn’t change a single part of it. They were very mindful and thoughtful over every decision they made together. Tom and Gaby really cared about the aesthetics and what made sense for them. For anyone considering remodeling their home, the Sheridans advise, “Take your time. The best part about the process is enjoying every detail and in the end, the final product will give you much gratitude and satisfaction seeing the fruits of your labor”.
