Meet the Moss Family

Howdy y’all. We’re the Moss Family – Kinski, Tim, Harper, Piper and Isla.
AAs the saying goes, “I wasn’t born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could.” I’m a North Carolina boy and a Tar Heel through-and-through who got hitched with a Texas Longhorn Cowgirl from El Paso.
In 2007, I took a flight from my native North Carolina and landed here in Austin, where I was met at the bottom of the ABIA escalator by the stunningly beautiful and brilliant love-of-my-life, Kinski. We are on summer break from law school, and she’s on a mission to introduce me to the place she loves the best and the preferred landing spot for us after law school. Her marketing tour takes us to all her favorite places - The Forty Acres, the Drag, Uchi, a Wednesday night Spazmatics show at the Cedar Street Courtyard, a run on the Town Lake Hike and Bike Trail, and what could only be described by this North Carolinian as Tex-Mex heaven. It didn’t take much of a sales pitch. She had already won my heart, and now Austin had won me over with the food and fun.
Kinski and I returned to Florida to finish up law school. After our last exams, we packed our belongings and two yorkies, and we moved to Austin in 2009 to start our legal careers – Kinski is an assistant county attorney for the Travis County Attorney’s Office, and I’m a plaintiff’s personal injury trial lawyer and partner at Erskine & Blackburn, PLLC. We married in 2012, and we purchased our first home in the UT Golf Community in Steiner Ranch.
We welcomed our oldest daughter, Harper, in 2017. Harper is sweet and kind-hearted with a magnetic personality. In 2019, we were surprised to discover that Kinski was pregnant with our twins. We needed more space for our growing family. So we moved to River Place in the summer of 2020 – just two months before we welcomed our daughters, Piper and Isla. Piper is our silly, brainy, tinkering twin, and Isla is our fierce, energetic, girly twin. With our little ones in tow, we took full advantage of our close proximity to Sun Tree Park. It became a haven for our girls during the challenging times we all faced during the beginning of COVID-19.
We absolutely love River Place. We love our friends and neighbors. We love the strong sense of community throughout the neighborhood. We always enjoy a good excuse to have a party or get-together – Halloween costume parties, Christmas Ugly Sweater parties, Saturday afternoon barbecues, and tasting dinners. Kinski loves party planning, decorating, and finding new vendors to bring a fun twist to our parties while Tim, the family chef, enjoys building the culinary experience
Community involvement is very important to us, particularly with our daughter’s schools. Kinski enjoys volunteering with reading programs at school, working with the PTA to plan and put on the RPE Spring Gala and other school fundraising activities, and participating in trunk-or-treats. Coach Tim, as some RP neighborhood kids affectionately call him, enjoys coaching in neighborhood soccer leagues for Harper and Isla’s teams. He also volunteers with Catechism classes, and Tim’s law firm sponsors an annual charity Christmas drive called the Anonymous Angel Project, which has served 250 of the neediest children at Galindo Elementary School for the past 21 years.
Our girls are beach babes who enjoy trips to the North Carolina Outer Banks, California beaches, and Port A. Harper enjoys hunting for sharks' teeth and shells and tumbling down by the water. Isla and Piper share a chuckle while we bury them in the sand. Their curiosity compels them to chase ghost crabs, mimic seagull calls, adorn sandcastles with clumps of seaweed, and prod jellyfish that have washed up on the beach.
