Brigadier General Charles Chappuis- National Guard
Submitted by Lita Chappuis, Charles' mother
Charles was inspired to serve our country by his father and four uncles, all officers during WWII. Two of his uncles were promoted and pinned personally by General George S Patton.
Charles joined the LA Air National Guard in 1998 as a commissioned officer serving as a flight surgeon in the 159th Medical Squadron. He volunteered for four tours as leader of the 159th Medical Group in Iraq in the early 2000s in support of Operation Iraqi and Enduring Freedom.
As I understand, he was one of the only Chief Surgeons in the country for both the Air and Army State National Guards
Today, Charles continues to serve our local community as Chief of Surgery at Oschner University Hospital and Clinics in Lafayette.

A Big Salute the Greatest Man I know.
My dad’s patriotism, selflessness & generosity are only a few attributes that make him great.
One of my favorite things about my dad is being the most amazing husband. I am grateful to witness the beautiful relationship he has with my mom.
Thank you, Dad, for everything have done for your family and for our country. You are a true American hero.

Lieutenant JG William G. Charbonnet- United States Navy
"I am tremendously grateful for all I learned from the Navy.  Leadership, teamwork, and to always do what it takes to get the job done. Also a tremendous wife (Susan) for 51 years of marriage. She was from Virginia on a short visit to the Philippines to visit her dad working with the Navy when I met her in a bowling alley on my birthday on the base."
