Unleashing Cuteness, One Wag at a Time

Meet Ellie the Cavapoo!

How long has your family lived in the neighborhood? What do you like most about living here?
We have lived in RiverTown for four years. We love the peaceful surroundings, proximity to the river, and the quiet family neighborhood.

What's your pet's name, age, sex, and breed / type?
Our dog's name is Ellie, short for Eloise. She's an 8-month-old Cavapoo, a mix of Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Miniature Poodle. We wanted a Cavapoo because of their affectionate nature and intelligence, and after learning they make great family companions.

When and how did your pet come to join your family?
Ellie became a part of our family thanks to a recommendation from a family friend who also owns a Cavapoo. They knew we were looking for a dog to join our family and become a companion to our son with specials needs. She directed us to a local breeder, located off of 210, who had a litter of Cavapoos available. After seeing their post on social media, we reached out to the breeder, and the rest is history.

Is there a story behind your pet’s name? How did you and your family come up with it?
We brainstormed name options as a family and settled on Eloise after taking a vote. We chose it for its classic charm, which we felt suited her affectionate nature, and Ellie made for a perfect nickname.

What's the one trait or behavior that makes your pet stand out from the rest?
While still a puppy, Ellie's affectionate nature sets her apart. She particularly enjoys being close to people, often perching on the back of the couch when not playing or resting in her bed.

Does your pet have any unique talents or tricks?
Ellie's still in her early learning phase, but she's already a pro at pulling off a Houdini act by slipping through the backyard fence rails like a fluffy ninja. We're hoping her skills expand beyond backyard escapes soon!

Does your pet have any favorite toys or treats?
Ellie's has several toys, but her absolute favorites are a spiky rubber ball with a blinking light and a good ol' bone. Treat-wise, she's into occasional ice cubes or chomping on crunchy carrots.

Tell us about your favorite memory with your pet.
One our favorite memories with Ellie was bringing her home when she was just a little puppy. Seeing her explore and grow every day has been so rewarding. She's our family's first pet, so every moment with her is a new favorite memory.

Where does your pet love to hang out in the neighborhood? Who are your pet's favorite playmates in the neighborhood?
Ellie's favorite hangout spot is mostly at home, although she's had a blast during her visits to the Bark Park. As for playmates, she hasn't found any yet, but we're keeping an eye out for other Cavapoos or small poodle mixes in the neighborhood.

Are there any local businesses or parks your pet particularly enjoys visiting?
Aside from the Bark Park, Ellie had an interesting experience at Doodle Doo's on Loretto Road in Mandarin, where she attempted getting professionally groomed but was not having it, lol. The staff prepared us for this possibility and were welcoming, encouraging her to return soon to help her get used to the grooming process.

If your pet could choose any adventure to go on, what would it be?
If Ellie could pick her own adventure, she'd likely go on a frantic run around the neighborhood, sniffing out new scents and enjoying the freedom to explore until she wears herself out.
