Golfer of the Month

Archana Bhandari

Captains Cup 2023

How long have you been a golfer?
Golf is my Covid hobby so about 3 years
Who or what got you started or interested in golf?
My husband Nitin is a golfer and he got me introduced me to this amazing sport!
Where all have you golfed?
Our women's group in Ruby organizes East Bay Team play and home and away which gives us a chance to play some great private courses like Moraga, Rossmoor, Castlewood, Blackhawk, Sequoyah, Richmond, Crow Canyon, Claremont and Round Hill among some.
Favorite course? Why?
My favorite course has to be in Punta Cana because it was my first time golfing outside the country. Loved golfing amidst palm trees and getting fresh coconut water and drinking rum all day!
What do you love about the local course?
Ruby Hill is a well kept, beautiful Jack Nicholas course and I love playing here (home course knowledge helps :)) We have one of the best driving range facilities and the staff rocks!
What is your most memorable golfing story from here?
My most memorable times have been at the couples twilight events at the club. It’s fun 9 holes followed by food and drinks. We all land up staying very late and have a great time getting to know other members.
Biggest weakness/strengths in your game?
My strength is my approach shot and weakness would have to be putting but on any given day anything can happen .... that's what makes golf a very humbling sport.
If you could play a foursome with any three people, who would you choose and why?
Tiger Woods, Roger Federer and Bobby Flay!I love playing and watching golf and tennis and we are big foodies so this would be a dream foursome for me :)
Advice to new golfers?
Golf is a very fair game and it is handicap adjusted so you can play with anyone once you get past the nerves :) The ladies group is very supportive and encouraging and makes you feel very welcome. Do give it a try!
