What a Ride at the Stroll Car Show and End-of-School Celebration!
31 Cars of Every Variety Lined Up for the Car Show Contest!
On June 3rd, the James River came alive with the roar of engines and the glimmer of polished chrome as car enthusiasts from Salisbury, Rosemont, Tarrington, Hallsley, and greater Midlothian gathered for an unforgettable day at the Stroll Car Show and End-of-School Party. This highly anticipated event brought together 32 classic and custom car and truck owners, allowing visitors to experience the curves and sparkles of the vehicles they had read about in Stroll magazine. The beautiful grounds of American Legion Post 354 provided the perfect backdrop for this lively event.
The festivities kicked off at 10 AM, as the sun sparkled above, setting the stage for a memorable day. The event was a true celebration of cars, with owners proudly showcasing their classic and custom vehicles of all eras, colors, and sizes. Everywhere you looked, smiles lit up the faces of attendees, whether they were admiring the stunning cars, indulging in delicious chili, or simply enjoying the idyllic weather and riverscape.
Mike Watkins, in collaboration with CASIchili, organized an incredible chili cook-off that delighted taste buds and raised funds for the American Legion's handicapped-accessible restroom project. Eighteen world-class chili cooks brought their culinary prowess to the table, providing 150 hungry attendees with an array of mouthwatering flavors. The chili tastings were nothing short of extraordinary, leaving everyone in awe of the gourmet eats on offer.
The event was a feast for the senses, with additional attractions that catered to various interests. Justin Young from Paint N' Sip transformed the smaller pavilion into an artistic haven, inviting attendees to express themselves by painting their renditions of custom cars and other sketches. Car-finding scavenger hunts and yard games added to the excitement, while the beats of classic 50's rock tunes, courtesy of Wes Thomas and his wife Paula from Stax of Wax DJ Services, filled the air. Fireside Pizza food truck was alive with patrons, and the King of Pops provided refreshing popsicles!
Sponsors such as Paramount Builders, Inc., Virginia Shower & Bath, Melissa Crim with EXP Realty, Riverside Custom Hardscapes, AJ Global Contracting, and Relay for Life were present, showcasing their top-notch products and services. Their presence added an extra level of engagement and education for attendees.
The highlight of the event was the announcement of the People's Choice Car Winners. From Best Antique Car to Greaser's Choice, each winner displayed their automotive pride and joy. The Best in Show award went to Michael Marretti for his stunning 1966 Colorado Red Austin Healey MK III 3000 BJ8. The variety and beauty of the cars were truly awe-inspiring!
As the sun set on this memorable day, the echoes of laughter and the memories made will continue to resonate within our neighborhoods. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated, volunteered, and supported this fantastic event. Thank you also to Mill Quarter Plantation Golf Club and Riverside Custom Hardscapes for providing amazing raffle gifts! It's your enthusiasm and support that make our community shine!
