Aloha Kitchen, Bath, & Design

Where Design Meets Family, Culture, and Expertise

Aloha Kitchen Bath & Design was founded by Jackie Alonzo, an interior designer with over 25 years of experience, and supported by her husband Fabian’s background in culinary arts and business, the business thrives on a unique, family-oriented approach to design. Hailing from San Francisco and being of Hawaiian and Samoan heritage, the values of Ohana (family) and Aloha (love) are the  principles that shape Jackie’s design philosophy and client relationships. Whether a consultation or a full renovation, clients receive a personalized experience that prioritizes their needs, tastes, and goals for every project.

Jackie’s path to interior design was unconventional. After studying animation and fine arts, she discovered her passion for design through college courses. “A professor recommended me for an internship at a high-end tile and stone showroom. By the time I graduated, I was a lead designer,” explains Jackie.

Over the next few years, Jackie grew the San Francisco Bay companies she worked for and established a strong career in the tile and stone industry. “I was then scouted by a luxury construction firm to serve as a principal kitchen and bath designer and manage their showroom,” she shares. There, she worked with incredible clients, designed beautiful spaces, and oversaw the construction aspects of her projects. After years of dreaming about going solo, she decided to focus on her own business and now provides the same level of luxury design and construction expertise directly to homeowners and contractors.

In 2021, Jackie and Fabian, drawn by his deep family roots in Salisbury, decided to relocate to Richmond where, from hourly consultations for DIYers to full-scale project management, Aloha’s services cover every stage of a remodel. They provide space planning, design concepts, and detailed construction plans, with options for specifying finishes and selecting cabinetry. Clients can choose from several service levels, including assistance with product selection, cabinet ordering, and coordination with contractors. Using advanced design software, Aloha ensures clear communication and expert guidance, making any remodel a seamless, stress-free experience.

Recently, Aloha Kitchen, Bath, & Design earned the prestigious Professional Remodeling Organization (PRO) Central Virginia 2024 PRO Grand Prize Residential Interior Under $150K award for their stunning kitchen renovation project (pictured here). Built by Eric Layne of Another Level Renos and interior designed by Aloha, the project stood out in a highly competitive field. The panel of judges, from various regions, typically awards with a narrow margin of only two points. However, Aloha’s design was so exceptional that it won unanimously, —a rare achievement.

The homeowner’s original kitchen was outdated, with dark cabinets, limited counter space, and a dysfunctional layout. Despite an attempt to improve the space with an island and light fixture, the design only worsened the flow, even causing a family member to bump into the light fixture. Additionally, the dining room was closed off by a wall, and the laundry closet wasted valuable space.

Designer Jackie Alonzo, using her expertise in architecture and space planning, proposed bold changes, including relocating the laundry to the basement, adding a hidden laundry shoot, and removing non-load-bearing walls to connect the kitchen to the dining and family rooms. The design featured a U-shaped kitchen with a large peninsula, black-trimmed windows, French doors, and an updated flow. The result is a bright, functional, and harmonious space that transformed the home and thrilled the client.

With the business growing steadily and a reputation for excellence, Aloha Kitchen Bath & Design is becoming a trusted name for homeowners. If your kitchen and baths are original to the home, at the end of their lifespan, or lack function or fashion, be sure to contact Jackie and Fabian at Aloha Kitchen, Bath, & Design to put together an exciting new renovation plan.
