Our favorite thing about living here is the endless number of outdoor activities.
With a two-year-old and a baby on the way, Maggie and Sean Neal are thrilled to be living in Sandestin. If there’s something happening in the community, Maggie and Sean will be there. “We love going to as many events that Sandestin puts on, like the wine festival, movie night on the lawn, concerts, etc.” Of course, for Sean, golfing and fishing are right up there, too.
Maggie and Sean also love their Island Green location. “We like that it’s towards the back of Sandestin so it’s very quiet. We also absolutely love being on the golf course; after the last tee times we love to watch our son, Charles, and dog, Lincoln, run around and play.” Lincoln is their half Black and Tan Coonhound/half German Shepherd who just turned seven. Charles is two and ready to be a big brother.
Both originally from Atlanta, Sean and Maggie have always been drawn to the area after many years of vacationing here. They love the Destin area so much, they were married at the Henderson Golf and Beach Resort. The couple will be celebrating their five-year wedding anniversary this October, after six years as residents. “We also have family here and wanted to be close to them as well,” Sean said.
Having family close by was not the only reason they moved here. “Our favorite thing about living here is the endless number of outdoor activities,” Sean shared. “We love to spend time with family, kayak on our Hobies in the Bay, and fish off the beach.” Fishing and golfing are two of his favorite things, and living here allows for many opportunities to do both. Maggie enjoys the wonderful restaurants in the area, the live music, and the many events throughout the year. The couple also became members of Burnt Pine Golf Club and have been taking advantage of all the activities there. “We have absolutely enjoyed every bit of it - from their sunset soirees, golfing, tournaments, it’s all been wonderful.”
It may seem like all they do is fish, golf, and eat, but Maggie and Sean have careers too! Maggie works remotely as a Sales Analyst for ICON Plc and Sean is a Financial Advisor with NPC Financial. “My office is located in Grand Boulevard, which means I can take the golf cart to work!”
Before careers and marriage and babies, Maggie attended University of Alabama and Sean went to the University of North Georgia. “We’ve got a house divided of Georgia vs. Alabama!” This can be interesting at Thanksgiving time when they travel to Alabama to visit Maggie’s family. The whole gang gathers for the Iron Bowl and no matter who wins, they always have a bonfire afterwards. With some friendly competition, hunting, and hiking, the holiday is guaranteed to be a fun time.
The Neals stay local for most of the Christmas season and have started the family tradition of riding on the golf cart throughout all the neighborhoods to take in the festive Christmas lights. “We all bundle up and play Christmas music, and the kids absolutely love it!” They then head up to Atlanta to continue to celebrate with Sean’s family.
This Christmas they will have another passenger on the golf cart, a son who will join the Neal family in November. It’s likely that he, too, will be running around the golf course soon!
