Meet the Haigler Family
Whether it’s trips to Australia, YMCA leadership, or cheering on their kids, the Haiglers embrace family and community

The Haigler family—Rett, Heather, Alexander (15), Barrett (8), and their lively silver lab Luna—has been proud to call Sedgefield home since April 2021. Rett grew up in Winston-Salem, while Heather hails from Burlington, NC. After six years in Durham, the family moved to Greensboro during the pandemic to be closer to family and embrace the strong sense of community they’d come to love while working with the Wyndham Championship from 2010 to 2015.
Rett is the VP of National Market Development at Mission Mobile Medical, a company that provides healthcare services to vulnerable populations. Heather works in business development for PPD, a division of Thermo Fisher Scientific. Both balance their professional lives with a deep commitment to family and the community.
Rett is heavily involved with the YMCA as the Chief of the Walla Walla tribe, a father-daughter program where he leads around 20 dads and their daughters twice a year for unforgettable trips to Camp Cheerio in the North Carolina mountains. These weekends are filled with bonding, outdoor adventures, and the creation of memories that last a lifetime. Rett also serves on the Ragsdale YMCA board, helps coach youth sports teams, and actively supports community initiatives like the YMCA’s Bright Beginnings program.
Heather, whose father is Australian, has shared her family heritage with the Haiglers through incredible travel opportunities. In both 2017 and 2023, the family visited Australia to spend time with relatives, explore breathtaking landscapes, and experience the unique culture. As Heather says, “Spending time with family there and seeing this incredible country is a blessing we hold very dear to our hearts and we can’t wait to return!” A former professional ballerina, Heather brings grace and creativity to her family. She also spoils them with delicious meals from her kitchen.
Rett, by his own admission, is a “decidedly average” golfer but has been passionate about the game since his dad, affectionately called “Pops,” introduced him to the sport at age three. In 2024, Rett and Pops made a dream come true by playing the historic courses of St. Andrews, Scotland, and returned with stories they’ll treasure forever.
Alexander and Barrett both attend Wesleyan Christian Academy and excel in academics, athletics, and creativity. Alexander is a quick study who has a natural knack for learning new skills. Whether he’s mastering wrestling on Wesleyan’s Varsity team, constructing complex Lego sets, or picking up a new subject at school, he tackles challenges with ease. He also plans to join the baseball team this spring, with aspirations of becoming an engineer. Outside of school, Alexander enjoys skiing, traveling, and spending time at the beach.
Barrett is a talented gymnast who quickly progressed to advanced levels. She also enjoys softball but truly shines in her creative pursuits. Known for her ability to memorize song lyrics and riff on harmonies, Barrett impresses her family with her natural musical talent. Whether she’s adding her own twist to Taylor Swift songs or drawing, her creativity is a source of joy for the Haiglers.
The family’s silver lab, Luna—nicknamed “Doonie,” “Zonner,” and “Lunatic”—is full of energy and personality. She loves peanut butter, backyard games of fetch, and being a loyal companion to Heather while she works from home. However, her playful antics include a hilarious tendency to chew on socks when she’s bored or excited, keeping the family on their toes!
The Haiglers love living in Sedgefield. Some of their favorite local spots include Southern Roots, Simply Thai, Machete, and 1618. Summers are spent at Grandover Swim and Tennis, where Barrett enjoys competing on the swim team. The family also treasures neighborhood traditions like fishing at the lake, evening golf cart rides, Halloween on Waldenbrook, and attending the Sedgefield block parties, which offer a great opportunity to meet and connect with neighbors.
For the Haigler family, Sedgefield is more than just a neighborhood—it’s a close-knit community where they’ve built lasting friendships, shared meaningful experiences, and made countless memories. Whether hosting gatherings, supporting local causes, or enjoying the annual Wyndham Championship, the Haiglers are dedicated to making Sedgefield a vibrant and welcoming place for all.
