Introducing Klaine Doucette from the TerraWealth Doucette Family Office

From Winslow Roots to Financial Expertise, Helping Families Thrive in Gilbert and Beyond

Where did you grow up? How long have you lived in the area? Tell us about your family
I grew up in Winslow, Arizona (standing on the Corner) and moved to the valley after I graduated High School in 1985. I have lived in the East Valley for the past 30 years, mostly in the Gilbert area. I have been married to my beautiful bride, Ann, for 25 years and we have one son, Karter, who is a Licensed Investment Advisor in our Firm.

Tell us about the events that led up to where you are now.
When I moved to Phoenix I worked at a warehouse 35-40 hours a week and attended Phoenix Junior College. After a year, I went to work for Foot Locker and quickly moved into management at age 20. As a matter of fact, I opened the Foot Locker store at Superstition Springs Mall in Nov 1990, which is when that mall opened. I left retail to pursue a career in financial services in May of 1993, which I have grown to enjoy and I have been in the field ever since.

What is your business, why did you start your business?
We have a financial planning firm, where we help individuals and small businesses navigate and plan their financial future. We help our clients with cash management, retirement accumulation, income distribution, and overall investment advising.

I was originally drawn to this industry for personal education and learning the tools to take care of my hard-earned money. That lead to me having the desire to help others learn what I was learning. It became something I really enjoy doing as I deeply serve others and 30+ years later, here I am. Now, having my son Karter join the firm and thriving, is a great joy to our business.

What is unique about your business?
The financial industry is filled with transactional sales people, there are plenty of people to sell you a financial product, from a mortgage to an insurance policy. Our business is based around our "Client Planning Process". We take time to get to know what is important to our clients, let them start to understand our strategy and resources, and to make sure we are a good fit for each other. We believe if we are a good fit, our clients will be with us for decades to come.

Given your business expertise and the nature of what you do, what advice can you offer to the residents?
Don't wait until you think you have "enough" money to look for an advisor, get an advisor to help you navigate your plan for your future. Money is as much behavioral as it is knowledge. When you have a coach or advisor, it helps you stay on track and it keeps you motivated for the outcome.

What else we should know about you, your family, or your business?
We aren't a fit for everyone, but for those we do align with, our team will take great care of you and your family. We have our out-front team that works with the clients and establishes the relationships, but we also have an investment team that is at work behind the scenes to keep our clients on track. Many advisors try to do it all or be all to everyone and we don't think that is the best strategy, we know our roles and we work together like a well-oiled machine.
