The Teen Behind Emme’s Amies!

Skaneateles High School sophomore Emmerson “Emme” Decker is the creative teen behind Skaneateles’ trendiest bracelets and the business owner of Emme’s Amies, a charming handmade jewelry and accessories business.

Emme’s journey began at age 11, when she discovered a passion for jewelry-making through a bracelet-making class at the Skaneateles Library.  Inspired by the incredible detail and chicness of the bracelets she crafted, Emme quickly developed a hobby out of creating friendship bracelets.  After reading about a college student who started a successful winter hat business from her dorm room, Emme was then set on launching her own meaningful charitable venture right from her hometown.

In 2019, Emme’s Amies made its debut with a mission statement of “One Friend to Another” to donate a bracelet to hospitalized children for every one sold.  That summer, her hands were tied up “literally” in bracelet strings, as over 200 bracelets were created and sold to help raise funds and awareness for a local children’s hospital.

After COVID-19, Emme was focused on expanding her business in collaboration with other small business owners through Instagram.  Through video presentations at school, Emme’s Amies was able to gain more attention as her message was further promoted to her peers.  Soon after, Emme decided to enter the Young Entrepreneur Academy competition, where she developed an appealing business pitch for Emme’s Amies that thoroughly impressed the investor panel and secured funding to support her business.

Today, Emme’s Amies product line has diversified to include creations beyond simple bracelets to include on-trend popular products such as wave bracelets and rainbow keychains.  Emme’s creations have now been sold in over half a dozen local shops in Skaneateles through pop-up events, including Emma James, The Savage Homestead, and Skaneateles 300.  Her retail has also made an appearance in shops beyond Skaneateles, such as Camillus’ Synple and Syracuse’s Crazy Daisies.

As a sophomore today at Skaneateles High School, Emme aspires to study fashion and business in college, with hopes of entering a career in event planning or working under a clothing brand.  But no matter where her path leads, Emme continues to stay true to her “one friend to another” motto and pursues her passion of bringing rays of sunshine to others through Emme’s Amies.
