Meet the Paulus Family
The Paulus Family – Lindsay, Michael and Mila – are some of the newest members of the Skaneateles community, having moved into the village this past summer. The couple and their 11-month-old daughter, Mila, have settled into the community and embraced their first fall as a family in Upstate New York.
Originally from the Syracuse area, Michael graduated from Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) High School in 2007. Lindsay was born and raised in Baltimore, and the two met in Maryland in 2014 before embarking on their now ten years together. During that period, the couple grew both their relationship and their careers with opportunities across the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and deep South. Michael pursued his career in intercollegiate athletics administration and fundraising, having worked at multiple schools, including the U.S. Naval Academy and Ole Miss Athletics while also completing his M.B.A and Ph.D. Similarly, Lindsay pursued her career in dentistry, attending graduate school before completing both dental school and her orthodontics residency at the University of Maryland.
It was not until a job opportunity for Michael at Syracuse University that the two would consider moving from Baltimore to the Upstate area. As part of the process, the couple began more seriously looking at communities they would live in and opportunities for Lindsay’s career. Like the harborside neighborhood they lived in Locust Point, Baltimore, they wanted to find an area where they could enjoy the water, walk to restaurants and parks, and engage with their neighbors and community.
Ultimately, the family settled on living in Skaneateles. Lindsay, (Dr. Diaz) began in September working with Skaneateles native, Dr. Lauren Vitkus, at Sirius Orthodontics and her growing practice. Sirius Orthodontics has offices in Syracuse, Liverpool, Baldwinsville and Geneva. Michael, after nearly three years as the Senior Associate Athletic Director with Syracuse Athletics, now serves as the Assistant Dean of Advancement and External Relations with Syracuse University’s business school.
Amongst all the experiences that life has brought the couple the past ten years, Lindsay and Michael are most proud of and happiest being parents to Mila. The family loves to travel, having already taken Mila to meet Lindsay’s family in the Dominican Republic, as well as to Europe this past summer. You will often find the Paulus Family walking through the village neighborhoods, around Austin Park, and along the sidewalks near the water. Unapologetically, you will also see a plethora of black and purple apparel and their Baltimore Ravens flag on their porch on Sundays.
The Paulus Family is happy to be living in the Skaneateles community, and they look forward to continuing to develop and grow their relationships with other families and members.
