Smiles, Community, and Growth: Sirius Orthodontics' 2024 Year in Review

2024 has been a fun year for Sirius Orthodontics! After our rebrand in 2023 we have used 2024 to meet more new people in our Central New York Region. We are in the process of updating our offices to better serve our patients and our communities and we excitingly welcomed the talented Dr. Lindsay Diaz, featured on this months cover, to our practice earlier this year!

As an orthodontic office, we are in the unique position that we work with children and adults of all ages, and that we work to bring joy by helping them smile.  We have the ability to extend this joy outside of the office by being involved with our communities, and this is something we take great pride in.  As we did last year, we’d like to take this month to present a little year in review:

To kick off the year, we attended the Health and Wellness Fair at the Skaneateles Community Center. Our clinical team was onsite with our Invisalign itero scanning machine taking mouth scans for interested attendees so they could see a before and after simulation of what their smile would look like after Invisalign treatment.  We’re excited to share we will be there again this coming year – come visit us there on Sunday, January 12, 2025!

February is Children’s Dental Health Month which we celebrate to raise awareness of the importance of oral health for children. We visited local schools to teach children how to develop good oral health habits, such a brushing regularly, eating health foods and visiting the dentist.

We spent the spring and summer involved with many of our local sports teams sponsoring little leagues, youth lacrosse and local hockey programs. Sports are symbolic of life.  Life requires teamwork, discipline, respect, compassion and character. Sports can develop those skills to apply on the playing field and in life. We are proud that our office can support these programs for the kids in our community.

October was again all about Trunk-or-Treats! We like to attend these candy-filled events as it even gives us the opportunity to talk about the importance of good oral care and share what candies are best for patients in braces.

This fall and winter we host mouthguard events to help spread awareness of the importance of mouthguards for athletes.  Many of our patients participate in activities where mouthguards are important giving us the opportunity to serve as educators.  Both Dr. Vitkus and Dr. Diaz are former college lacrosse players, so this initiative is very important to us.

Finally, throughout the year we visited local camps and provided Girl Scouts with education about how braces and Invisalign work. We have fun working with small groups doing hands on activities to develop those STEM skills!

We want to express our gratitude to this community for supporting us in our endeavors. Thank you for welcoming us and thank you to those who follow along. If you are part of a group or organization that we can support in the coming year, please reach out, we’d love to meet you! We want wish you and yours a wonderful, safe, happy and healthy holiday season! Cheers to a great 2025 ahead!
