Meet Caryn Joyce!

Caryn Joyce grew up in Fayetteville just 26 miles from where she now presides alongside Skaneateles Lake. She raised two sons in a beautiful old home in the Dewittshire neighborhood. It was in the large sideyard of that home that she grew her first quaint vegetable garden. Caryn quickly earned bragging rights in the neighborhood for her lush tomatoes. For a number of years, she owned a restaurant in Syracuse but her passions have led her to start many small businesses throughout her life. From custom knitting to a line of luxury wrapping paper. Her love for illustration and painting would eventually land her greeting cards on the shelves of many major stores including Wegmans.
Today her painting practice remains a feature in her life. In her work she paints wild birds, haughty hens, and dashing ducks, all of them quirkily missing one key feature, their heads! A small gallery of her work can be viewed at 2 West Lake Inn hosted there by the owner Clark Maher who is a dear friend of Caryns and a constant supporter of all her endeavors. The collection is cheekily titled “The Roasters” since it features only the chickens' beautiful feathers and feet.
A couple of years ago Caryn was thinking wistfully back on that little side yard vegetable garden. She longed to once again experience the joy that gardening and farming brought to her and so she decided to start Luxury From The Farm. A lifestyle brand that allows her to combine her love for homegrown food, painting, and recently home fragrance. Her experience in organic cosmetic chemistry has evolved into a passion for making candles. Her scents are inspired by gardens she has grown and her experiences in nature and while farming. Each candle is lovingly created in small batches at her loft in the heart of the village. So many friends have come together in support of Caryn and her new venture, always lending a nose to sniff a new candle or an eye to choose colors and edit branding. A special thanks to Thom Felicia who was a great help in choosing the gorgeous vessels Caryn now pours all her candles into! A kismet meeting and a budding friendship led to her candles being stocked just around the corner from her front door at The Local Branch. As Luxury From The Farm grows Caryn sees the business expanding into a larger space where she can further explore candle making and other items for the home.
When Caryn is not working on her business you can find her taking long walks around the village with her beloved dog Otis. On their walks, Caryn and Otis have made many new friends. They now enjoy almost daily meetups in the park with Otis’s pup friend Katie and her doggy dad Ernie. Of course, a stop into Lucky Dogs is always on the agenda as well as a quick visit to The Local Branch to check on Luxury From The Farm Candles and share any fun new scents Caryn has cooked up. But by far the best part of their walk for Otis is when they get to visit Clark and “Sir Harvey” at the Inn! As Fall approaches Caryn and Otis are thinking of knitting a new sweater, maybe setting aside some time to paint, concocting a fresh new line of candles for Luxury From The Farm, and most of all just enjoying the lovely life this village has to offer!
