As winter descends upon us, the entire town transforms into a picturesque Christmas wonderland, with twinkling lights adorning every street, creating a warm and festive atmosphere.

You may start to see the red, green, and white decorations go up in stores like Skaneateles300 or the twinkling tree at the end of the pier, but the creative celebrations of our community members are what helped us make last year's list. 

For the past three decades, our community has come together every Saturday and Sunday throughout December to perform a heartwarming rendition of Charles Dickens' timeless classic, "A Christmas Carol." Students, parents, and Dickens enthusiasts dress up and bring the streets to life, interacting with holiday shoppers and infusing the air with both holiday spirit and exceptional acting. The talented "Dickens Singers" further enhance the festive ambiance by serenading the town with beautiful Christmas carols at the Gazebo.

Perhaps one of the most enjoyable activities is the horse-drawn carriage rides through the festive and decorated streets of Skaneateles. Another favorite activity among the children is listening to the stories read by Mother Goose in Loft 42, where the stories magnify the joys of the month. 

As you take a stroll, the sound of Salvation Army bells and the aroma of roasting hazelnuts surround you, creating a sensory experience that captures the essence of this special time of the year. Skaneateles come alive during Christmas, offering a lovely and magical holiday experience for all who gather in our charming town.
