Meet Dr. Priya Nayyar, a dermatologist on a mission to provide patient-centric care. Born and raised in Long Island, New York, she brings a unique blend of expertise and compassion to her profession. Her path in medicine is unique and she has truly made a difference for those in the local area with her experience and expertise.

 

 

Dr. Nayyar's academic journey began at Temple University, where she graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Psychology and Neuroscience. She then attended SUNY Downstate Medical School, where she honed her skills and developed a passion for dermatology. During her medical school years, she was accepted into the prestigious Clinical Research Training program at the National Institute of Health, an achievement that speaks volumes about her dedication to advancing medical knowledge.

 

After medical school, Dr. Nayyar embarked on a rigorous path, completing a surgical internship and a dermatology residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. Her commitment to excellence didn't stop there.

 

“Following residency, I completed a one-year procedural dermatology fellowship at Mt. Sinai Beth Israel Health System in New York City. There I trained in all aspects of procedural dermatology, with a focus on Mohs Micrographic Surgery, hair transplant and cosmetic surgery,” explains Dr. Nayyar.

 

 

After several years of practicing medicine in academic and group settings, Dr. Nayyar decided it was time to follow her passion and vision. In 2019, she established Dermaclinique, a state-of-the-art dermatology practice in St. Petersburg.

 

“I opened Dermaclinique to fill the void in the Tampa Bay/St. Petersburg/Clearwater area of a comprehensive dermatology practice that offers a full spectrum of services under one roof with the utmost focus on quality care,” says Dr. Nayyar.  Dermaclinique provides dermatologic services, ranging from medical and cosmetic dermatology to skin cancer surgery and hair restoration.

 

Dr. Nayyar's motivation was to create a practice that focused on quality care rather than high-volume service. She envisioned a patient-centered, boutique private practice where evidence-based, patient-focused medicine would thrive. Thus, Dermaclinique was born, and since then, it has become a trusted name in dermatology.

Dr. Nayyar has some advice for residents. She shares, “Get your skin checks regularly by a board-certified dermatologist.  The rates of melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer continue to rise.  Also, credentials matter.  Understand who is treating you and what you are getting done.   We see so many patients who have had misdiagnosed skin conditions and complications in cosmetic procedures, primarily because they are being seen by people who do not have the appropriate training to perform the services they are offering.”

 

When not working, Dr. Nayyar treasures time with her family. She is married to her husband and they have three daughters, ages 9, 7, and 3. Time as a family is always well spent, making memories together.
