Mike Donnerstag, the owner at Chef Mike and Pink Cloud Catering, and his team are dedicated to making your event unforgettable, offering delicious and healthy meals from the first bite to the last. They offer a wide range of catering and event planning services—from upscale private chef dinners and in-home cocktail parties to onsite weddings, private jet catering, and delivery. After having conflicted early years with the wrong crowd and wrong activities, Mike found his passion in the restaurant industry. His first job was at a Chinese restaurant in East Greenwich, RI. He went on to attend Johnson & Wales in Providence and began to further develop his skill set. After working at many different restaurants, he realized that the restaurant industry is a tough lifestyle. However, he found private jet catering another venue for his passion. “After working with that company for a number of years, I realized I needed to further help the world with my talents. I started my current business in my home by delivering healthy meal prep in 2017. We are going strong today with a full-time staff, fully licensed kitchen with a vast array of equipment including mobile ovens, and a food truck. I believe in creating a healthy workplace, great food, and hospitality. To me, hospitality is not what you do for someone, it’s how you make them feel.”
Different from many other catering companies their prep work is done in their commissary and finished at the event. “We bring the kitchen with us so that everything is freshly prepared. Our staff members are seasoned and a tightly knit group of professionals. They have the capability, knowledge, and skillset to do many different things. Do not worry about upsetting us with custom orders and requests. We can throw fun and creative parties, limited only to your imagination!”
Mike offers this advice, “Hiring a professional for an event will allow you to actually have a good time and enjoy your guests. The do-it-yourself program takes away from the reason you are hosting an event to begin with. If you are working with a small business like ours don’t be afraid to bargain. If an initial quote is out of your budget, then say so. Being up front about your budget may get you a better deal. Our business is very motivated to meet you where you are. By you working with us you will be helping a small business and its workers put food on their tables and pay rent.”
Mike grew up in East Greenwich, RI. He has now been in Sarasota for more than 20 years and considers himself a local. “My parents live in Lakewood Ranch and love our local food scene. My girlfriend and I enjoy any type of foodie activities, travel, and being part of the community. An important part of my family are the people who work with me.”
Other interests and involvements that Mike has locally include YMCA, recovery meetings (First Step), Salvation Army, and the local jail recovery pod. They donate to First Step with their time and money.
