Meet The Furry Friends From The Pappalardo Family

The Pappalardo family, consisting of Mike, Jennifer, and their two daughters, Grace and Penelope, have lived in Southwest Hills for nine years. Friendly neighbors, breathtaking views, and the ever-beautiful Douglas fir trees surround them. But it’s not just the family that makes this home special—some furry friends bring much love and laughter to their lives.

First, there's Woody, the chocolate lab, who’s five years old and has been a loyal companion to the Pappalardos for several years. Woody’s role in the family dynamic is clear: he’s the calm, patient older brother, especially when it comes to his new little sister, Lucy.

Lucy is a yellow Labrador, a recent addition to the family at just five months old. The Pappalardos got Lucy after a trip to Disneyland, where they left Woody at Coyote Creek Retrievers for training. While there, the trainers had a litter of puppies, and the Pappalardos couldn’t resist bringing one home as an early Christmas surprise for the girls. “What’s a little house training over the holidays, right?” Jennifer laughs.

Affectionately known as “Lucinda Giada Pappalardo," Lucy is the sweetest little pup you could meet. She’s full of energy and affection, always ready to shower her family with kisses. Jennifer shares that each family member has developed a unique “defense” against Lucy’s enthusiastic love. “She’s the most loving puppy we’ve ever known!” Jennifer says. “She’s most happy when showing her affection.”

Woody, who’s getting used to all the extra attention from his younger, playful sister, can often retreat to his “man/dog cave” by the end of a long day with Lucy. Woody and Lucy’s playful dynamic is one for the books. Lucy is all about playtime and is not afraid to get creative. In fact, Jennifer has a funny story about Lucy trying to outwit her big brother. “Lucy is in it to win it,” Jennifer says. “She’ll crawl up Woody’s back and even over his head to steal the bone he’s chewing on. Woody just pretends not to notice and continues chewing!”

Despite being spoiled with love and attention, Lucy has the best big brother in the world. Woody patiently lets her chew on his ears, even though it's resulted in a few bald patches on his fur. Now that’s sibling love at its finest!

Regarding their neighborhood adventures, Lucy enjoys roaming the local logging roads with Woody. Initially, she stuck close to her family, but as she’s grown more confident, she loves to explore the seasonal ponds and streams—sometimes making it challenging to keep up with her!

Though Lucy loves her daily walks, she’s also a Willamette Valley pup, enjoying the occasional visit to local vineyards with a stunning view. She’s a fan of winery tours, where she can stretch her legs and take in the beauty of her surroundings.

In short, the Pappalardos' home is full of love, laughter, and some very spoiled furry friends. From Lucy's playful antics to Woody’s calm presence, it’s clear that these pets are cherished members of the family who bring so much joy to their everyday lives.
