How to Beat the Winter Blues

The Lakeshore offers a charming blend of outdoor adventures and cozy experiences highlighting the season’s beauty. From serene trails perfect for snowshoeing to the simple joys of ice fishing on the frozen lake, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. If it’s just tranquility you’re seeking in nature or looking to embrace the festive spirit with local activities, this area provides an idyllic winter wonderland. The Stroll Squad came up with a list of super fun wintertime activities to help embrace it!
1) Skiing and Ice Skating at Mulligan’s Hollow – Probably the most popular and frequented spot by the kids of SL! If you know, you know. Enjoy outdoor ice skating surrounded by scenic winter landscapes.
2) Grand Fun Arcade- Located on Jackson St. in Grand Haven, it offers various video games, skeet ball, hoops, mini bowling, great food, and you can reserve it for birthday parties! www.grand-fun.com
3) Visit the Grand Haven State Park – Take a walk along the snowy Lake Michigan shoreline and marvel at the frozen lighthouse. Pronto Pup opens on certain weekends throughout the winter months.
4) Sledding at Duncan Woods – Experience family-friendly sledding in this picturesque, wooded area.
5) Snowshoeing and Cross-Country Skiing – Explore the trails at Pigeon Creek Park or nearby Ottawa County parks. You can rent or bring your own! Sledding hills are available here as well. (no snowboarding)
6) Cozy Café Hopping – Warm up with a cup of coffee or hot cocoa at local favorites like Grand Finale, Odd Side Ales or Aldea Coffee.
7) Explore the Spring Lake Trail – Enjoy a peaceful winter walk or bike ride along this serene trail.
8) Eagle Watching – Head to the PJ Hoffmaster, Ottawa Sands or the Grand River for a chance to spot bald eagles in their natural habitat.
9) Ice Fishing – Try your hand at ice fishing on Spring Lake or other nearby frozen bayous
10) Michigan Luge Adventure Sports Park-Located in North Muskegon, learn how to luge down a real luge track, ice skate or cross country tree in stunning wooded trails. https://msports.org
