For Sara and Tim, the lakeshore is more than just a beautiful place to live, it’s home. Sara was born and raised in Grand Haven, while Tim moved to the Ottawa County area as a teenager. Having spent their adult lives here, raising their children who attended and graduated from Grand Haven Area Public Schools, they have a deep love for the community. After all, how many people get to live in a place that others choose as their vacation destination?

The inspiration behind Grand Fun was sparked at a surprise birthday party Sara threw for Tim at a family entertainment center about a decade ago. The couple had so much fun that they started wondering, “How great would it be to help others create memories like this?” In 2016, Tim attended a conference about the family entertainment industry, and with both of them having backgrounds in education and working with kids in school and church, it felt like the perfect fit.

By 2019, after attending another industry conference together, their passion was solidified—Grand Fun was no longer just a dream but a reality their entire family would take part in. Today, it’s not uncommon to see the whole family, including their children, working together to ensure others experience the joy and excitement that inspired them in the first place.

Grand Fun is built on a simple yet powerful “why”: to provide a place where people can create lasting memories with loved ones, escape the stresses of everyday life, and just have fun!  Beyond entertainment, the business also serves as a valuable stepping stone for young employees, many of whom are working their very first job. Tim and Sara are committed to helping these teens and young adults develop essential skills that will prepare them for future career opportunities.

Giving back to the community is a core value for Grand Fun. The company has participated in numerous fundraisers and expo events for local schools, sponsored children’s crafts at the farmers market through the Chamber of Commerce, and contributed to various other community fundraising events. Their philosophy is simple….if it promotes fun, faith, or family, they want to support it. After all, the world could always use more of all three!

At the heart of Grand Fun is a family deeply invested in the well-being of the young people they employ and the customers they serve. Tim, Sara, their children Carter and Taylor, and even their beloved dog Wesley, are all part of the Grand Fun experience. They cherish the opportunity to work alongside teenagers and young adults, guiding them as they navigate their first jobs and prepare for future career adventures.
